I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
View MoreIt's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
View MoreThis is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
View MoreThere is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
View MoreWell guyz if u'r interesting in bio movies then watch this movie
View MoreThe title "The Pirates of Somalia" + 'too old for action' Pacino set up in my mind a film completely different from what transpired. And so did the 'tone' of the first 20 or 30 minutes. The unprepossessing lead actor and the 'near-goofy bro' tone almost had me leave early but, if you go in, have patience. This well made true life tale of an idealist who takes a way-over-his-head risky chance in the hope of establishing himself as a journalist keeps adding weight as goes. The director mixes in a little magical-realism while presenting background to the Somali situation that I had never heard or read of before. Plus, it happens to be funny quite often. Enough license taken to make it a tense grand adventure. Our favorite Somali actor, Barkhad Abdi, once again, does a great job.
View MoreThe movie dedicates from 3 - 5 minutes of dialogue to explain something of Somalia history, culture and situation. Throughout the rest of it, it tells the story of a prepotent journalist trying to make a career out of another country situation. The main character is just annoying and futile. Native actors made good performances. Important story told through a bad script.
View MoreInspiration often finds its way through real-life events. The problem of Somali pirates plaguing the waters of Africa, the Indian Ocean and its surrounding arms extending to the Mid-east has been the source of inspiration for various Hollywood dramas. Each movie speaks its own tale, highlighting the troublesome nature of the maritime zone that has been a cause of worry for the entire global shipping domain. Most of these Somali pirates movies are based on incidents that have taken place in people's lives. Some movies even have had real-life characters acting their part highjackingwithin it. These aspects have thus made these pirate movies far more impactful with the audiences not only understanding the relevance of the subject but also correlating its significance.
