Wonderful character development!
Crappy film
It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
View MoreThe movie really just wants to entertain people.
I think the poor reviews of this movie are unfounded. The movie was more of a classic gore / horror, and pretty well done in that respect. The gore scenes were very well done I thought, fairly realistic looking actually which made it pretty disturbing. The main villain was terrifying. The mask was well made and quite scary. The bad parts? The acting was okay, but not great. Definitely a B rate performance. Secondly the story had a lot to be desired and was disappointing because it had so much potential to be a pretty good movie. There are plot holes everywhere, and the ending made little to no sense. But if you can look past that and just enjoy the gore fest, it's a pretty good movie.
View MoreMy title kinda' says it all: this movie almost defies description in its complete stupidity. Premises is well-worn by now: a bunch of 30-year old "teenagers" are off on a camping trip to a legendary house where awful murders occurred. They ALL stumble around (I'm thinking because they lack an opposable thumb) and manage to become live bait for the murderer. The first big problem I had with this movie is that (like many of its genre), it doesn't try to build ANY suspense, tension, atmosphere, or terror. The audience sees the killer in the first few minutes, so they had already flushed that potential scare down the toilet. The second problem was which one of these lame-brains set up this soirée? Nobody knew where anybody else was supposed to be or where this house actually was. And I just have one question that I guess ANYBODY can answer: DOES A CELL PHONE EVER WORK WHEN YOU NEED IT TO? Third BIG problem I had was the characters (even when they managed to break free of their bonds) wanted to do the 100- meter mosey to get out of the house. The fourth problem in this was also the accents, which were either heavy Irish or some sort of heavy Brit brogue. Couldn't understand. My fifth problem was the over-use of blood. It became so overdone, it just had no effect. And if anyone believes you're still going to be alive after being hit mid-back with a heavy blow from an axe, well, you're the one that's stupid.Lastly, there's the heroine who is NEVER in a hurry to get anywhere and who cannot defend herself even when she's holding a double- barrel shotgun. Another reviewer said this movie (to them) looked like all involved at least tried to have a good time. Really? You sure could have fooled me.Unrated for gore and language. NOT RECOMMENDED.
View MoreThis film is seriously a fun gory film for the modern age. If you are a fan of gory slasher films, then this one is definitely for you. Being a fan of the sub-genre, I personally love this film. And another reason why this film is actually really good is the actors and actresses! They were ACTUALLY GOOD!!! I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed it. And the kills in the film were extremely graphic and shocked me with every death. It gives the feeling of the modern gorefest films like Frontiers and High Tension (Which I love and I love that I an add this one to the list of awesome gory films!) I give this film *********/10 (9/10 stars) It's just a film that you need to go in with an open mind and just have fun with it!!
View MoreThe title pretty much tells the story, there are some killings in the wood and that's pretty much it. This so called massacre is presented by the antagonist whose blows are powerful enough to make a fountain of blood from any victim he meets. While hemorrhaging is no joke, it seems everyone has tendency to squirt liters of blood from the slightest touch. The excessively low budget gore is occasionally creepy, but mostly ironically ridiculous. Nevertheless, it has at least a little entertainment value.A group of people go to a forest and meet with gruesome fate. Honestly, no one in the group is even remotely likable. Either they suddenly encounter the threat and proceed to usual frantic screaming, or the movie invests too much time on shallow characters. One particular female is so hostile, her entire dialogues consist of argument. This is very bizarre, especially when she still argues in the moments where her survival is at stake. At some points I thought she might just debate with the villain.Other characters are overzealous, lacking logic or too meek. None of them feel as though they are genuinely facing authentic dangerous scenario with the villain gradually approaching. Scenes are poorly done, mainly because the editing is choppy. Almost the entire time the characters are shown standing randomly and awkwardly delivering the lines. Furthermore, it feels the screenplay misses a couple of scenes or lacking consistency, but audience probably wouldn't lose much anyway. The effect is laughably over-the-top. Expect too much cheap blood spewed on the screen. It really doesn't matter what the cause is, these people will bleed. It only takes a simple jab and one of them starts to vomit blood until their hair and clothes are covered with it. This silly execution might just serendipitously work in in their favor as comedy effect. The Redwood Massacre is unoriginal and shallow, even to the point of unintentionally funny, but the rigid slasher premise or silly antic might just deliver a few chuckles.
