Disappointment for a huge fan!
Am I Missing Something?
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
View MoreThe zombie and vampire genre are practically dead (no pun intended) and I suppose their uprising during the last decade or so is soon to an end now that there is also a couple of TV series running. Do not take me the wrong way, I just love the zombie genre but still I have to admit it is quite hard to keep alive and interesting seriously speaking. We have also seen a couple of fusions lately as well, Fido (2006) which is a zombie drama of sorts and Warm Bodies (2013) which is a romantic zombie film. Both of them works just fine, but now these fusions have been made too.Plot: gulf war Soldier gets killed and by some voodoo rite, I assume, he Wakes up in his coffin back home in the States where his condition spreads. He tries to make the best of it but it gets out of hand. The Revenant works. It is funny, gritty and feels somewhat fresh. And it was fun to see David Anders in a Movie totally out of whack. His character and acting in this Movie is so different from his mechanical acting in Alias (2001) and Once Upon a time (2011).It is a bit too long and too slow at times, and the story is a bit thin. Okay, the storyline in zombie films are usually quite thin, granted, but The Revenant does not have an apparent one and has basically only a string of different scenes strung together. That is why, I suppose, it is listed as a Comedy/horror here on IMDb.The last half hour or so is the best when the pace picks up and the most funny scenes appear - the female-sex-toy scene is my favorite.I give it 6 out of 10, it is funny and somewhat fresh, but I prefer the old school style like Day of the Dead (1985/2008), the Return of the Living Dead (1985) and The Walking Dead (2010 TV series).
View MoreI've not written a review for IMDb before, but I'm so impressed with this movie - and there are some misleading negative reviews here that don't represent it at all - I thought I'd throw in my £0.02 worth.Firstly, if you're a horror fan, you'll love it. If not you'll probably hate it and only see its flaws, and it is flawed. We know this though, right? Part of the joy of horror movies is Cheepnis and The Revenant has it's fair share. Louise Griffiths is awful, the pacing is all over the place, and there are some gaping plot holes that frustrate, because everything else about The Revenant rocks.Secondly, It has to be seen in the light of every other horror movie you've seen to make any sense. Not that it's an homage or anything like that, but it is an original twist on the Vampire/Zombie genre. I wish I'd thought of it and I'm not going to con myself or you into believing that I had or that this is old hat. Thirdly, it is funny, horror and comedy are excellent bedfellows and this succeeds by being one of the campest and morally execrable buddy movies I've seen. Joey and Bart have a great screen relationship as Joey's depraved selfishness creates a downward spiral of mayhem. What's more, it parades it's moral bankruptcy in the guise of vigilantism so we believe we're watching the good guys. Capped off with one of the most quotable lines in a horror movie ever, my heart thrilled and warmed to the two central performances - not to mention some great cameos from the supporting cast.n summary, ignore the haters and naysayers, if you're a horror buff, definitely see this.
View MoreWith the zombie craze in high gear there is a new addition to the genre all the time. A few of them try to step away from the Romero rules and deliver something different, but sadly most of them don't work all that well. The Revenant trailers showcase a more action oriented approach to this genre that looked fun and promised to deliver, but can it live up to the promises or will it decompose faster than it can feed? The Revenant follows a soldier killed in Iraq who awakens from his grave as the undead. With the help from his best friend they realize his more than just a zombie, but instead a revenant, an articulated zombie that needs to drink blood to survive or begin to decompose. This dark comedy is one of the few outside of both Shaun and Juan of the Dead that really work with this direction in the genre. With this film though it keeps the comedy, but is more of an action film, with the revenant's of this film becoming gun toting vigilantes wreaking havoc for good and to get the blood they need to survive. The film has a bit of a slow start at first, but once it gets going it delivers on almost every action. There are a few cheesy performances, but most everyone else does a good job. Leads Anders and Wylde have great chemistry together and really seem to be having a great time. They make sure to not shy away from the gore here keeping the blood flowing and making sure the characters stay covered in it on some level for most of the film. The story here is pretty simple, but adds just enough depth to keep it moving and fun, while adding a decent little twist at the end that could deliver some sort of sequel. The Revenant is a great addition to the zombie genre really brining a fresh and fun new take on the undead. No, this isn't the only time something like this has been done, but this one works better than most. Fans of Alias will love getting to see Anders just totally unleash to create another memorable character to his resume. If you like zombies, then this is a movie you should not miss.http://www.examiner.com/movie-in-dallas/bobby-blakey
View MoreThis film released previously more than 6yrs ago. Why again? This movie isn't funny or doesn't have strong storyline. To me it's a combination of zombie and Dracula. Why hero killed his girlfriend? Why he came back to life? Why he couldn't drink animal blood? Why he killed his best friend? Why the movie ended suddenly? What the director's try to portray isn't clear.I'm from Bangladesh I've seen it already. Then why u guys bother to see it.If u don't have anything to do then only it is preferable. Otherwise waste of time.
