This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
Did you people see the same film I saw?
A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
The movie really just wants to entertain people.
Throughout this film I found was constantly asking myself what I was watching. The terrible sound alignment displayed while Stephane was sleeping was extremely distracting, as well as a horrible aspect of the movie. The time lapse used by the director was alright, as was the green screen. I still believe that his dreams could have been represented in a much better fashion, as I constantly found myself wondering if Stephane was dreaming or in real life. The The story line of the movie was awful. By the end of the movie he had still not gotten the girl, and still had the same crappy job printing at printing calenders for a low level company. Nothing had been accomplished. I would not watch this move again.
View MoreIf I could I would sum up this film in three words bizarre, unconventional and idiosyncratic. Yet I wouldn't expect anything less from a film solely focused around sleep, it also really embraced the idea that life isn't perfect but weird, not what you see in the typical films. The best part about this film for me had to be that you have to keep on guessing whether the scene was taking place in Stéphane's dream or reality. This I think compensated for the lack of plot.Yet, the character development was almost no existent. I feel like Stéphane remained unchanged by the end of the film. Also I found it extremely difficult to relate to the characters which made it that much harder to get into. But the acting made up for it. I loved how the actors were so awkward especially in the scenes between Gael García Bernal (Stéphane) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (Stéphanie) because you could really feel the tension between them. The special effects were creative and added to the quirky atmosphere of the film. The use of colour and movement of the splatter paint in both the intro scene and the "I don't wanna be spaghetti" scene were enhanced by the splatter paint. Also the stop motion was used quite a bit. My favorite that they used stop motion in was in the scene when the tap turned on and the blue wrappers were used as water, it was simple but effective. Finally I found that the most interested effect used was the green screen specifically in the scene when Stéphane was flying through the city. Overall I loved how they captured Stéphane's dream in this film. I only wish I had watched it all in one go so I could have gotten immersed into the story.
View MoreA wildly original film tells you all the plot you need to really know in the early minutes. Our protagonist is a immature underachiever who finds himself amongst those of the same ilk. they are a society of people who accept mediocrity as a passing phase where our young man/boy has his fulfillment and adventure in his dreams. His apartment is transformed into a late night TV set where his confidence and communication skills are highlighted where in real life he can be equally creepy and charming. The language changes are abundant and often cause an audience reaction to wonder if this is a dream or reality. This fantasy is short on Hollywood satisfaction but endless in dreaming non-sense. IFinding this as interesting without being clearly meaningful is difficult but peeked my interest none the less and I'm glad I finally got my hands on the DVD
View MoreThis film is not bad, for me. Actually, this film is a bit interesting. But you shouldn't watch this film with your boyfriend or girlfriend because this film is french film. This film is very enjoyable for me but it is very fragmented. Stephane entranced in his dreams and he didn't understood that he was in dream or he was in real life. In fact, I and my friend didn't understood that:)) At the end of the film, Stéphane and Stéphanie were very happy and this is very important to me. And I want to say that Stéphane's inventions was very great. He invented a time machine for Stéphanie. I am supporting their love. Congratulations to filmmakers.
