While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City. The Spirit was just as bad as i've heard for the last 10 years i mean i can't believe how awful this movie was. That battle between The Octopus and The Spirit looked so freaking full of green screen that it was embarrasing and the perfomances? they were even worse. Definitely a superhero film without the 'super' in it but also without any actual good thing in it except the end credits when it finally ended....!!! (0/10)

This movie is exactly what it was marketed to be. A cliché conflicted hero movie. It's got the troubled but overall good hero/not really a hero, many gorgeous women (pointing at you Scarlett) and a ridiculous but amazing bad guy. The story line has been overdone to pieces, the dialogue is sometimes shady at best, but that's exactly w hat it's supposed to be.This is one of my favorite movies. Give it a shot before writing it off due to the reviews.

I saw this film December 2008 with my sister and a friend. I'm pretty sure there were only two other parties in the entire theatre--I think it was opening week too... Nobody really wanted to see this film. I'd seen the trailers and hyped it all up to my unsuspecting companions. This wasn't long after 300 came out, so one might be inclined to think that The Spirit possessed serious cult potential. It didn't. Frank Miller should just stick to the comics. It got to the point where people were openly jeering at the screen, and I think we may have walked out because I honestly can't remember the ending. 2/10.

It's not that I feel especially motivated to write a review about this film, I just feel that all the negative reviews fail to take into account people like me who know little of the genre or comics books and have no desire to compare it to Sin City (which I have seen).I watched The Spirit on TV recently and I enjoyed it! There, I've said it. I thought it was stylish throughout. It had lots of tongue-in-cheek self-deprecating one-liners which I actually laughed at. I really didn't have a problem with the plot. After all, the plot doesn't actually have to make sense. Plus it had several foxy actresses (female actors) camping it up for all they were worth! As was Sam L, for that matter. It might not bear a second viewing, but I'd be happy to take another run at it if I happen across it again. It was fun and good to look at and entertaining. I enjoyed it! Seven out of ten.
