If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

Tooth Fairy is actually an entertaining family film. It's a good movie to watch if you're fed up with the excessive swear words in movies. Tooth Fairy has clean dialogue, okay performances, good directing, and has a positive message.

So I was persuaded to watch this by the 'better half'. reluctantly I sat down really not expecting much more than a poorly put together cliché with poor lines and terrible jokes thrown in.Well, I was wrong! It's not the greatest film ever made, but then it never claims to be but what it is, is actually very funny in parts. So many alleged comedy films today just aren't funny, you maybe crack a smile from time to time but very seldom do you actually laugh. This had me genuinely laughing at times. The cast was better than I thought it would be too, with Billy Crystal, Stephen Merchant, Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews all playing their part very well. Stephen Merchant in particular for me had the funniest role with the best lines and situations and pulled it off brilliantly. The down side though was the now standard story of boy has girl, boy loses girl to only then win girl back. It's just getting tired now. Other than that a very good effort and well worth a watch in honesty.

While it's better then most family related movies(which isn't a very big compliment), I would have to guess that this movie was done by Dwayne Johnson as a contractual obligation. He did The Game Plan and Race to Witch Mountain which are also Disney movies so I'm assuming this was just to fulfill a 3 picture deal he had with Disney. While it's still a serviceable movie it's not the genre of movies that Rocky is best equipped at. He's definitely good in movies where he uses his comedy but he also needs to do some action work like how he's now going to be a part of the G.I. Joe and Fast & Furious franchises. I think Dwayne might be wise to try to get a role if they do an Expendables 3 movie. Seeing him on screen with the likes of Stallone, Willis and Arnold would be a nice passing of the torch kind of thing going on.

Okay, Dwayne Johnson cannot act. He looked tense, uncomfortable, and cannot deliver humour with any sense of timing. Thank goodness for Ashley Judd and Julie Andrews who can act and deliver their lines with some sense of being involved, especially the latter who could be in any pantomime and make it work. The kids do well too especially Chase Ellison. The film's redeeming feature is its story, about what happens when you stop believing and tell the rest of the world to stop too. Perhaps this attempted fable is a bit too hard on the accelerator when it comes to the "what if" punchline, but it does have a charm if you enter the spirit of it. The outcomes are entirely over the top but consistent with pantomime tales, which tend to pan out that way too. What spoils the film is its apparent confusion as to target audience which may be why the casting of the main lead was a pretty poor choice. So not a film to go out of your way to see or pay out good money to rent or own.
