Best movie ever!
I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
View MoreClose shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
View MoreJust intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
View MoreIs your life really so bad? If you could change one decision you made 20 years ago that will affect the direction of the rest of your life but probably away from the people you now cherish, what would you do? This film has some similarities to four films I enjoyed: the James Stewart Christmas classic from 1946 "It's a Wonderful Life;" two films with Nicholas Gage: "When Peggy Sue Got Married" with Kathleen Turner, and "The Family Man" with Tea Leoni; and "13 going on 30" with Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. I'm sure there are other movies with similar themes about introspection to pivotal moments in one's life and the effects they have ultimately. But if you also enjoyed any 2 of those 4 films then you will enjoy this heart-warming flick about a high school football hero whose life seemed to change on a bad twist of fate. And despite his efforts to make the best of it, fate deals him another bad break before he reaches a point of one last pivotal decision. The story is the critical element here - not the acting, or subplots, or cinematography, or directing, etc. Just enjoy the story.
View MoreI give it a ten sleeper. It did not appeal to me but I had some time so I watched it. What a life lesson!!! Its a good reminder that if we want change make it happen stop living in the past. Kurt Russell has always been a favorite actor and his attitude is contagious. I loved it, its a little slow at times but adds to the suspense even tho you know what is probably going to happen...Modern Its a wonderful life.Ten lines huh??? Well that was all I had to say I was trying to be concise I would hope that would suffice. However, I didn't realize ten lines was so hard to write when I had run out of things to write they shouldn't make you write ten lines. But, there you go this is ten lines for your comment page.
View MoreNormally, I don't give movies with a good message or touching story a score this low because you can enjoy them because of their value in other areas. That being said the errors, bad acting, bad choice of actors, bad story writing, and bad editing make this movie a painful experience for anyone with any knowledge of football or basic logical thinking. If you are in the mood for a good message or touching story as many others have mentioned, then go find another. The theme is cliché and therefore common enough that this movie is not special. I would not recommend this movie to a friend. I may watch for it on YouTube so that I can point out the errors and have a laugh, maybe go over the logical inconsistencies not related to football, and possibly warn football fans who think of watching it because it has Kurt Russell and a football theme about it.
View MoreTouchback is the story of a football player who gets a chance to relive his high school days, at the end of which 15 years ago, he injured his leg and thereby lost his chance to go to college and play as a professional. As he finds himself in a known situation, he relooks at the very things (present) knowing well what is the future. Initially he is excited that he can now literally rewrite the past, especially his dream of getting out of the small native town he has grown up in and become a professional football player. However, his interactions with his coach, his own single mother and most of all with an unknown girl (who in his present is his wife) in the college - not unknown, but he never really did notice her then - he begins to see the beauty of the present. His mother challenges him to be happy now, rather than eternally keep chasing happiness in the future. Finally when he actually has a chance to change the present, in line with his grand plans for the future, he does the same as he did then, 15 years ago... all for the sake of retaining what is most important in life... love and friendship of those dear and not personal plans for glory.I wonder how many of us, if given a chance to go back into our past and change things, would change the whole of it? Or some of it? Or most of it? Blessed are those who will live it as it is and be happy about it! Because only then will each present moment count and every choice made valuable, because my present is more important than my past or the future... because my choice for the right and lasting things of life is more important than momentary glory and honour.http://vcastilino.blogspot.in/
