I have recently obtained a copy of the movie, it has been more than 25 years since I saw it for the first and only time. I used to follow the TV series and collect the magazines that came along. Thanks to Petete and friend I got interested in science and increasing my knowledge, today I am what I am, in a way, thanks to Petete. This movie uses characters from that TV series, so in a way is like watching our Petete in action after having seen him in all those books and very short TV moments. The movie is a fantastic movie for kids of my age that recall with nostalgic those times and what Petete meant for us, I still have the encyclopedia, all well preserved and much cared, 8 books of pure mind food for kids. If you have the opportunity to watch it do not hesitate, for me it has been like finding a hidden treasure and now I am committed to tell people about this fantastic movie. There is another movie made also by this Spanish cartoon movie director that made his career in Argentina call Ico, the valiant horse, similar style with a loving story. If you are interested in how to get a copy of this movie in Spanish version contact me by email.

I saw Petete y Trapito as a Dutch version, just called Trapito. The Dutch synchronisation is wonderfully done as i remember. This movie has been my favorite movie in my early youth and i've seen it over and over again. You can read in other people's comments what it's about and i totally agree that it'll bring tears to your eyes. It's a touching tale about problems in life, morals, friendship, loyalty, in one moving animated package. I've been looking all over if i can get hold of a copy anywhere, but haven't found it yet. It's been at least 10 years since i've seen the movie last. You can decide for yourself how much of a good impact that made on me, that i'm still trying to find it now.

I took my son to see this film in 1975 while living in Uruguay. we both loved it. I wrote a short picture book based on a tale that dealt with the same theme, the ilusion (dream) of Trapito, the little scarecrow (espantapajaro, The bittersweet, poignant tale will touch the heart of anyone and the antics of the bear, Largirucho will tickle the funny bone of kids anywhere. I've always wondered why this excellent cartoon has never hit the screen here in the US. It's a doggone shame it hasn't at it is excelente!

When i was a child, 'Trapito' was the only movie that makes me cry, but the tears came for happiness. If you don't believe that 'Trapito' is the best Latin-American animated movie ever, please watch it, and you'll find an almost perfect movie with a very original story, an amazing soundtrack with songs that make you 'feel' the movie, great characters, lots of laughs and a lesson about life: everyone must have an illusion to be happy, because a man without an illusion is like a scarecrow.'Trapito' is a little scarecrow, and he stay nailed to the ground having a very sad life, until he makes a new friend called 'Salapin' (a sparrow). Since then, 'Salapin' becomes the illusion of 'Trapito' and together they'll have a lot of adventures, from find a job for a farmer in trouble ('Largirucho', a very known character in Argentina) to find a pirate treasure in an underwater world, making friends all the way. But 'Trapito' must care, because an illusion have wings like a bird and it may go away, but there is a hope: the same wings may return it to him, along with all the happiness he ever knows. This a great movie, and at the end you will learn that the happiness can find a way to you, always.
