Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

Why does some people like "trash" movies? Generally, these films have a kind of adorable goofiness that makes them cult objects. Be "Plan 9 from Outer Space" or "The Room", you will find that movies like those are very entertaining despite their numerous flaws. Well, this isn't the case here. "Troll 2" has everything that makes a movie a "trash" exemplar - badly written plot and dialogue, nonsensical motivations, poor acting and bad editing. But if there's one thing that movie is completely devoid of, it is charm. Even when a character seems to be more or less funny, he will make something very distressing - like screaming for an entire fucking minute - and then you will hate him for that. The screenplay is based around pure convenience, there's no buildup or psychological construction (who need that shit, anyway?). Some scenes are cringeworthy, but not in a "funny" manner, just very bad ones, while others doesn't advance the plot in any way - but I think i'm being foolish here, as there's fucking nothing to advance. Well, let's talk about the acting now. Oh, fuck it, there's no acting here, just a bunch of people overreacting or not reacting at all about any stuff. Have you ever seen any mexican telenovela? Did you find the acting on it bad? Here it's worse, that's all you need to know. Not even the soundtrack is worthy a listen. Following what seems to be a trend among some "trash" classics, the songs doesn't have anything to do with the sequences they accompain. The veredict is that you will laugh here and there while watching this piece of crap, but most of the time you will wonder why this shit lasts so much if the duration is only something like 100 painful minutes.

Notorious for only featuring goblins and no actual trolls, 'Troll 2' is not really a sequel to the fun 80s horror comedy starring Noah Hathaway. It does have a surprising amount in common with the first film though as both concern mischievous shape -shifting creatures who enjoy turning humans into plants. Here though, their agenda is far more horrific since they only want to turn humans into plants to eat them since they are vegetarians (!) and yet, 'Troll 2' is never scary, frightening or unsettling in the least. A lot of the blame comes down to the wooden acting, with Connie Young turning in a particularly poor performance with very rehearsed line delivery as the protagonist's older sister. The dialogue in general is bland though and the costumes and makeup for the goblins are cheap-looking. There is admittedly something interesting about the plot regarding being a vegetarian and the possible benefits of eating meat, but this all gets a little mixed up amid such absurdities as the young boy's dead grandfather being able to pause time in order that he can urinate on the food that his family is about to eat (yes, that happens). The mythology at hand is quite hard to nut out too with grandfather coming back in visions, then in real life and then, who knows? More could be said, but in short, it is easy to see why this has become a cult hit among those who like to laugh at its sheer awfulness.

It is a horrible movie and Connie Young only makes it worse......but it's like a train wreck where you can't look away.I mean, you get stuck to your seat wishing Young had another line so she can shout it like she's talking to someone across the train-station whilst looking directly into the camera. You can't wait to see the God-awful trolls again, which, honestly, I think were made to look that way because the director just wanted to humiliate midgets. From start to finish you want to kill everyone involved......but you finish it because it falls into the so bad it's entertaining loophole. But, well, it just hurts to watch it.
