The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The acting in this movie is really good.

As a collector who often gets asked to recommend films, this is one I often suggest as great family viewing. It has comedy with broad appeal, tongue in cheek dialogue, the occasional high-octane explosion or over-the-top comedic fight scene, and no bad language. If the actors were taking themselves seriously, this movie would not be worth a second's viewing, but all of the stars send themselves or their characters up, with the effect that this is a riotous romp across Los Angeles, but with a well inserted message of love, warmth, and mutual reliance, whether it be brothers depending on each other, the importance of family, or the need to look after the brotherhood of man. The kids will enjoy the slapstick and the smart kid characters, and they won't know they're being educated through entertainment, and the adults can enjoy the asides. All this in a movie that stars James Bond and Pontius Pilate!

THIS is the best 90's comedy EVER made! I challenge you to find a better movie than this. The Barbarian Brothers are at their acting peak as Peter and David Falconi, two musclebound twins who are fired from their job as waiters at the world's most disgusting Italian restaurant. They try to get a bank loan (unsuccessfully) and are bemoaning their loss in a local park when three gangsters try to shoot a local shipping tycoon (played by John Paragon) who's decided to inform on his nefarious bosses' activities. Anyways, the Brothers save all the kids from the snipers, and become local heroes--and get a NEW job, working for shipping tycoon as the babysitters for his twin nephews, Bradley and Stephen. Bradley & Stephen are the world's most uptight preppy blond identical brats, and so the Barbarians face the considerable challenge of enlightening them to the wisdom of pasta, funky-ass clothes, and riding around in their monster truck. The Barbarians fall in love with Stephen and Bradley's tutor (who looks like Jennifer Connely) and end up duking it out with the bad guys. THE TWINSITTERS DRINKING GAME: take a shot every time the Butler drops a tray! I dare you!

ok, let's start with the premise. Twin body builders, baby-sitting twin spoiled brats. Still wanna see it? You might like to know that 3 others sets of twins join up with the body builders to fight a terrorist/business/oil giant/whatever. i counted 5 sets of twins in all, how many can you spot?more seriously now, this is truly one of the worst films ever.1/2*

This movie starts out looking like a big stinker and for the first half hour or so it is. Then it suddenly falls into place. It stops being about The Falcone Brothers (Peter and David Paul) flexing and starts being a touching story of orphaned twins (Christian and Joseph Cousins, superb as always) coming to terms with their situation. Worth renting, but probably not worth owning.
