It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

The sequel of the vampire vs. lycans franchise expands on the mythology and extends the story of the Underworld films. The movie begins with a flashback to the 1200s and we get some medieval vampires slaying werewolves and an introduction to Marcus (Tony Curran) the remaining elder after the event of the original. The special effects improved as Marcus has wings and a mutated body and face. The wolves look better as well as Marcus's brother William is a new type of wolf and when he bites people they turn into crazed creatures that are permanently changed.Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael (Scott Speedman) are on the run as there is some confusing geography of where they actually are as it seems like Russia but they seemed to be in a city like New York in the first one. They follow a trail of mystery and share a scene of intimacy. It's clear that Marcus is on their trails and it makes for a lot of fun chase scenes. Selene and Scott find a guy who explains a lot of the past as Selene realizes her history is significant to this brotherly blood feud.Check out more of this review and others at swilliky.com

Underworld Evolution had so, so much potential and it's really a downer that the film didn't provide the quality of story that the first Underworld possessed. There were way too many characters in the movie and the role of William as a major part and theme of the film without having a focal character is just really petty when it comes to the flow and understanding of the story. The best part of the film, sadly enough, was the sex scene, where Kate Beckinsale was incredible and really animalistic. From that point forward the story seemed to stretch in its believability and the film gradually added plot hole after plot hole until a point where the ridiculousness was off the charts. The vampire and werewolf action and gore was still well done similarly to the first but that is one of the few things Evolution had going for it. The movie is pretty avoidable, maybe just a onetime watch is all its worth.

Now that the special effects that were cutting-edge for this movie's time have become not-so-impressive as the industry advances, the story itself is not creative or interesting enough to make it worth your time to direct your attention to the screen for almost two hours…unless you REALLY LOVE vampire or werewolf movies. If that's the case, let your freak flag fly! It's okay; I'm like that with football movies. Besides, there are worse things to have on your TV in the background than leather-clad Beckinsale doing acrobatics, shooting weapons, and kicking ass.For more reviews and a kick-ass podcast, check out: www.livemancave.com

Hey, it's a Hope/Crosby road pic!... but without the humor. I mean *any* humor. The mythology starts to get a bit tangled here, as is usually the case as franchises like these go along. After a while I sorta gave up trying to make sense of what was going on and just went with it (I doubt it really effects your enjoyment--or lack thereof--either way). It's biggest sin is that it's just incredibly dull. Despite moving along at a brisk clip, the action is boring and repetitive and the soapy drama that helped jazz up the original is missing here, making this a rather hollow affair.
