Very Cool!!!
From my favorite movies..
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
View MoreThere's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
View MoreAn avenging vampire (David Gunn) stalks a king of the vampires (Jonathon Morris) in Eastern Europe, and slaughters anyone who gets in his way.The Subspecies series is one of those rare gems in the Full Moon arsenal. I don't know if it is the director, or the absence of Charlie Band, or what, but somehow they seem to come out alright. Not that they are great films, but the look and feel of them is still better than your average horror film, which is notable. This film is a spin off of the series, but till very much a part of it with that look and feel. And even with Radu gone, he is mentioned and factors in, at least sort of. It feels like this series could have kept going, even beyond part four... and yet, instead we get a dozen cruddy Puppet Masters.
View MoreDo you like vampire movies??? Do you feel that for a movie focusing on this particular topic to be taken seriously,it has to be placed in Romania??? Do you want to see a gorgeous scenery, hear great atmospheric music and experience Vamipirism as it 's supposed to be??? Well, then you should get your hands on Vampire Journals ASAP!*SPOILERS?* I have to point out that I am a huge fan of Ted Nicolaou and everything he's done on the subject of Vampires... The whole Subspecies series is absolutely great, with the most flawless Vampire I have ever seen (Radu Vladislas),but the subspecies effect with its little creatures seems to me like a stain on what is otherwise a work of art... And this is where Vampire Journals comes in. No silly effects are to be found here, all the visuals are simply PERFECT. From the beginning of the movie ,where a cemetery is shown, displaying beautiful statues covered in snow, and when one hears the movie's enrapturing music,to the very last moment when Zachary realises he's never going to erase the whole Vampire bloodline, everything clicks into place. Vampire Journals has it all: gore, romance(?), tragedy, darkness, you name it... It's simply ravishing! So if, like me, you expect a movie that draws you in and allows you to experience what it's like to be a Vampire (regardless of who you identify with), then this is the right choice for you. If,however, you take such movies as a mere form of entertainment and are not interested in delving deep into the atmosphere and faithful portrayal of the Romanian legend, stay away and do not bash what you can't fathom!"There's no mercy...... Only darkness eternal"
View MoreI gave this a 2 simply because I enjoyed looking at the sets in the movie, and that was pretty much it. There was about one joke in the film that made me laugh, and everything else I found funny because it was so ridiculous. This is a cheap rip off of "Interview with the Vampire" as in: thriving in eternity, basking in immortality control freak and mean vamp teases the woe-is-me, I will never be human again pathetic vamp. The crucial differences here are that "Interview with the Vampire" is a very respectable film whilst "Journals" looks like something a bunch of high schoolers binded together for a school play.Zachary (Gunn) is a self-pitying guiltaholic who is travelling the world on a quest of revenge. Killing humans depresses him but killing other vampires doesn't phase him, mind you, as he is self loathing and feels no loyalty to his kind anymore. In the beginning, you see another vampire named Ash (Morris) that looks like a drugged, washed up rock star old man, kill Zachary's female companion, setting Zachary off on his journey to find Ash and claim his vengeance by killing him and all of his offspring.Predictability ensues. Zachary finds Ash, but a woman gets in the way, the woman both of the vampires want, a repetition of their last dilemma except this time Zachary is determined not to lose. You can't take this movie seriously at all, but it's almost one of those "so bad it's almost good" movies that you can only bear to watch once. The acting is very cliché, the dialogue is corny, the plot isn't that interesting, and the characters you like are the schemers that have it in for the ones who are supposed to be the heroes of the movie. If you're a patient person I suggest watching it if you're intoxicated and you have absolutely nothing else to watch and it's a dire emergency. But like I said, the sets are cool.
View MoreI've seen lots of movies, and plenty from the "Vampire" genre. This is one of the finest made. It's very poetic in it's writing and detail. The acting, while not overly astounding, is very well accomplished. As soon as I saw this movie, I then went out and bought it. I'm not saying you should do the same. The feeling of this movie is either your will like it or not...no in the middle here. The settings, the score is all so sombre and gothic. A love story caught in a fantasy drama mileu. It's beautifully portrayed throughout the entire movie and never once did I regret a single frame. There are some movies on this subject that make me feel the stars should have been aborted at zygote stage. (*cough*brad pitt*cough*)Enough said--8 1/2 out of 10.
