n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

This is a 25-minute animated short film from Japan. The writer and director and voice actor is Makoto Shinkai (one of Japan's rising stars in animated movies). He made this one 13 years ago before he started shooting full feature films. The story is basically about a young couple who stop seeing each other (physically) when the girl is sent to space to defend Planet Earth. From this moment on, their long-distance relationship only relies on text and video messages. Another problem is that she is so far in space that time runs considerably faster which means when she ages one year he ages 5 years or so. Just an estimate. This aspect reminded me of "Interstellar". It's a tragic love story, but it also made me question if she simply could have refused to go on this mission. Her excellent grades were surely a curse here. This film is a mix of all kinds of genres: romance, drama, animation and science fiction. All in all, it was a good watch, well-written and the animation is fine too. Something was missing to true greatness, maybe a better ending, yet I recommend it.

A bittersweet tale of love and hope between two kids in an unfair world. With its beautiful imagery and soundtrack filled with longing and tragedy, this piece will leave you breathless. It will leave you wondering about our world, how the bond between two people can remain so strong, despite an unfathomable distance. The end of this film brings a touch of hope for the future, that perhaps tomorrow will bring something better, that maybe the world won't be so cold. It brings a reminder that we never forget love, we will never forget hope. There is no other short film that will move you as much as this piece. It will leave you in tears.

What a powerful movie. For being as short as it is, it's incredible, and with a one-man crew, the Animation is beyond amazing. The story is a fascinating and heart breaking one. Love and War, the classic story elements, with sci-fi and space adventure. And instead of the typical post-apocalyptic one-man hero, it was completely reverse. The girl going off to battle instead of the guy, and the desperation to keep in touch with each other, through text messaging. The film blends inedible futuristic and sci-fi technology with simple modern tech.I can't say how much I enjoy the visuals. They are some of the best Anime-CG blends I have ever seen in any Anime series. Cell shading can be an eyesore if your not careful but this is incredibly and wonderfully balanced. The characters are drawn simply, while the robots are very complex. Why? I'm not sure how if at all it relates to the story, but non the less very well animated. And the colorization sets the whole mood of Space. I don't think I've ever seen such a richly detailed Anime. Most space sequences I see in others are simple black backdrops with no stars or any consideration to the lighting. But this captured the majestic beauty of space as well as the realism so well. Even the color-tones and lighting back on earth are so rich and vibrant. Warm and cool colors are well blended in this. The music is well beautiful. Small, but still understandable for such a small project. Excellent piano solos, and a wonderful song to top it all off.I felt the dub was very good, as most of ADV's are. Many may nitpick but I'm not the type to nitpick. The Subtitles however seemed very poorly translated. I was very pleased with Cynthia Martinez and Adam Colon's acting in this film. Both brought out their characters very nicely. What else can I say? This is an Anime you can't pass up. Is it a little sad? Yes, but come one, we can't be happy all the time.

I loved this little film. The aching distance and loneliness really tug at the heartstrings. It's really amazing how powerful a little 30 minute film can be. But what I REALLY fell in love with was the music. Especially "Through the Years and Far Away". It's so wistful and full of longing, but at the same time almost happy in a way. If anyone anywhere knows where I can get sheet music for this PLEASE post and let me know. It would mean a hell of a lot to me. Compsed by Tenmon, written by K. Juno, sing by Low. I've googled it to no end but it's so obscure I cant find anything. I want to be able to play it for my Boyfriend as a surprise to him. PLEASE HELP ME! I can almost figure out how to play it just from listening, but some of the chord progressions are fairly complex so sheet music would be great.
