In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Regardless of how unknown, low-budget, and predictable this film might be, I still thought it was enjoyable enough. It was a different take on the werewolf legend than what the bigger pictures put out. The closest thing I could compare this to would probably be 'An American Werewolf In Paris' and even that one is a stretch, it just vaguely reminded me as having the same tone at times. Our two main leads, Chris Mathers and Stephanie Langton, both unknown to me pretty much, they are slightly recognizable, do a decent and serious job acting, and I thought they really made the entire thing worth watching from the get go. The directing and writing are both notable, I would say. And the cinematography is well done. Maybe I'm just partial to faux-documentary style flicks such as this one tries to be at times, but I really didn't think it was that bad at all. Some people don't enjoy movies that try to pull that style off, and I'll admit that the voice-over done by one character is pretty pointless, but this film is still a fresh and enjoyable take on an old legend. Something I would recommend to the horror fanatic seeking something new.WEREWOLVES: THE DARK SURVIVORS -----7/10.

This movie is one big voice-over. Almost a slide-show to go along with a speech. I think Bob McKee, the character from "Adaptation" says it best when he says, "...and God help you if you use voice-over in your work... It's flaccid, sloppy writing. Any idiot can write voice-over narration to explain the thoughts of a character." Could he have been talking about this film? He would be all too right. Film is a "medium of movement and image", which is sorely lacking in this one. There's little need to worry about spoilers when the movie itself does the spoiling. I predicted the ending too easily. Ultimately this is a pain to watch, and even more painful to listen to.I suppose it's okay if you want to lay down, close your eyes and listen to a movie.Ughk!
