That was an excellent one.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

The movie's boxart and title screen looked promising – this looked clearly to be the villain or supernatural force in question – I was sorely disappointed. Instead, what I am treated to is a suspenseful film that passes itself off as survival horror. Granted, at one point the spelunkers face their foe, but it does them little good; instead they are picked off, one by one – at one point when they do make it to the surface (of the cave), they are pulled right back into the abyss by the force that is hunting them. The bulk of the film is spent with a shaky camera; the film would have been good with the story written out, but it quickly escalates into disarray as the spelunkers are lost, and otherwise resort to yelling and screaming which is not only over the top, but is obviously fake. Many parts of the film (in fact) would have been better, if it wasn't for the hysteria by the main characters. Granted, the movie does shine at parts, and I did enjoy it for the first half, but it quickly went downhill as the spelunkers merely repeat what they spent the bulk of the film doing – wandering in a cave, yelling and screaming in hysteria, and otherwise guestimating what their current situation is.The creature does get a few mentions and then some screen time; the film goes so far as to unmask him. However, this creature doesn't otherwise have any background save for an entirely unrelated plot device revealed later in the film. Why is the film so bad? It isn't bad, but it could have also been a lot better; it turns out, as revealed by the DVD, that it was made by college students. This was a student made film – they actually did better than I would expect from college students. The whole film had a 'recovered footage' feel to it, but for some reason it was a bit off – this explains why.I do not recommend this movie – if I didn't enjoy it, you probably won't either.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/?p=5542).

This movie was bad enough to force me create an IMDb account so I could warn others. Olatunde Osunsanmi should be publicly beaten for making this movie. I hope the producers lost enough money to ensure that they never try to fund another project again. Watching this film should be a film school requirement. It details everything you could possibly do to screw up a film project: no story, no character development, bad lighting, bad camera work, bad sound, bad foley work (running water while showing stagnant water. Really?). A 10 year old with a head injury, a broken handicam, and stuffed animals, could have done a better job than the crew that worked this film. If you like causing yourself pain, go ahead and watch this.

First, there is nothiabout this movie that is a take-off on Blair Witch Project. Some have cited the shaky camera. Those who did are obviously 30 or younger because the rest of us are aware that cameras were being shaken LONG before BWP. If they were taping themselves, it might be different , but they were not.Second - and this is responsible for most of the ludicrous things in this film - it's just not plausible that this could happen this way. Pretty much everything - from failed escapes to deaths - rely on the concept that someone scrounging for sustinance in a cave could grow very large, possess superhuman strength and pretty much dodge or be impervious to bullets. There just isn't enough food available for this to unfold this way. A person would use almost every waking moment looking for food. I'll grant that a person in a cave could grow strong, but not to the point where he could move things that multiple people could not move back. He'd more likely weigh about 140-160 and have corresponding strength. This could have been a decent flick but it was just too ready to insult the audience.

First of all, the set up was terrible. Cave enthusiasts go into the Kazakhstan wilderness? Why? Then the film wastes another 25 minutes or so setting up the characters background and motivation? WHY? The camera work was laughable, constantly panning left to right and in some cases directly into light sources, burning the audiences retina. Give me a break I turned it off after I witnessed the VERY FAKE computer generated fire coming from the fire pit. Then I turned it back on the next day to see how bad it could get, I shouldn't have. The cave was unconvincing, the audio was just passable, the camera lenses KEPT changing, soft blur, HD, on and on. In some cases they blocked the lens (probably with cardboard cut out) so you could only see 1/8 of the picture. For crying out load Sony Pictures, what the hell. Then the "creature" locks them in from the outside, then how the heck does he get in!!!!! Oh, also he has super human strength we are led to believe, because he can move boulders over 2 ton. What ever, its the biggest pile of crap I forced myself to watch for sometime, there is just that much wrong with it I could write a book. But why bother. You have been warned.
