Good start, but then it gets ruined
I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
View MoreThis is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
View MoreIt’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
View More2/24/18. I really loved this medical comedy series! Sadly, it only lasted one season. Why? While watching the pilot I just knew I would watch the whole series. The premise was so novel - surgical internship as high school all over again. Gummer did a fine job as Emily Owens, who gets to do an internship with her medical school crush (Will) while dealing with Cassandra, her nemesis from high school. She gets to have a great friend in Tyra, a gay intern with daddy issues. Their relationships are the ongoing backstories for the 13 episodes, while dealing with at least 3 medical cases in each episode. Though it was so formulaic, the familiarity offered viewers the opportunity to focus on the dynamics in each case. The season ended with enough loose ends to keep the series going as the writing was really good. Catch it, even it just lasted one season.
View MoreThis show is utterly crap. It's like a broken pencil...pointless. The main character is as likable as a sex offender. The directing made me nauseous and the writing sounded like it was written by two Italian men with no grasp on English. The rest of the characters obviously weren't familiar with their lines and sounded like retarded children. Do not watch this travesty of a show. Overall, this show is like a sewage treatment facility, looks normal on the outside, completely sh1t on the inside. Also I wasn't allowed to even post and review with the proper insults that are required for this the most awful/ terrible/ and abysmal show in existence. The friend who suggested this show to me will hereby be buried in six foot of dirt and sand. Boo.
View MoreThis show is amazing. It makes you laugh, makes you cry and always has a message. I love this show- I hope that the network rethinks its decision to cancel the show. Not only is the cast dynamic and diverse, it appeals to different backgrounds, different experiences, all woven into a complex and beautiful fabric of a show. This is one of the first medical dramas that has both heart and soul in it.Fantastic. I wouldn't miss watching this for the world. Mamie Gummer is hilarious, awkward and her performance is captivating and really draws the viewer into her thoughts and feelings. She is going somewhere- just wait. Then, the whole love triangle/square between Mamie, Justin, Michael and Aja's characters is great as well. It doesn't ever feel like a cheesy love drama. Their performances make it feel very real and raw.
View MoreI'm devastated to find out this show is cancelled. Most TV now-a-days has unlikeable characters and even worse: clichéd plots. Emily Owens is cleverly written and leaves the audience feeling refreshed.Mamie's character is likable and her acting is not only excellent, but surprisingly unique on TV. Her facial expressions are spot on.Yes, there are heaps of medical shows available, but just as Suits shines as a law series, Emily Owens MD is the best hospital show since Scrubs and House. More akin to scrubs than any drama, the CW is doing a terrible job of promoting Emily Owens. Not to mention, that the CW is not a network that normally carries this type of series. Perhaps now that Scrubs is cancelled, Scrubs' network can take on Emily Owens.
