Best movie of this year hands down!

    Rio Hayward

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The first surprise was Robert Carlyle in the lead role. his performance. and his science to escape from comfortable cliches. the second - the subject. after remarkable films about Hitler, another one could be only "an another". but the film works. as good introduction to the universe of a significant dictator. as portrait of a time. and as lesson about less recent history but about the essence of humankind. the historical accuracy and the effort of Robert Carlyle to give more a decent performance are the two admirable pillars of the film.

There appear to be a number of critical reviews of this TV series, mostly about "inaccuracy." For example, they worry about Hitler's father shown dying in his home instead of in a bar. Who gives a damn?.How do you portray the rise of Hitler? Do you get bogged down in trivia, or do you portray broad strokes.Did Hitler hate Jews because he hated communists, and many Jews were communists? That could have been better developed.Hitler was a loner and voracious reader in the army, obsessed with Germany's loss of WWI. That could have been better developed.I could go on and on, but the fact remains, Hitler was the most evil man in all of human history. How did Hitler develop from a homeless vagabond to the world's most powerful and feared individual, within a period of 20 years, who could extract a personal loyalty oath from millions of blind followers. How can that possibly be covered in a visual medium such as a movie or TV series. Personally, the explanation can only be found in the anti-Christ. Hitler was the devil, in human form. Not a devil's disciple, but the devil himself. Decision after decision was flawlessly executed in pursuit of absolute political power, all opposition was outsmarted, outmaneuvered and eliminated. The really frightening thought, if Hitler had not overreached from absolute political control to making all military decisions, we would all speak German today. If Hitler had wiped out the British in Dunkirk and immediately following had invaded Great Britain, and had bypassed Stalingrad to go straight into Moscow, the Nazis would have won the war. There would have been no Normandy invasion, no three fronts to defend. So how can a Hitler, so flawlessly achieving power in Germany, make these fatal mistakes on the battlefield. Divine intervention? I certainly hope to believe that. But this movie has not to worry about the military history; it stops shortly following passage of the Enabling Law in 1933. In showing Hitler's rise to absolute political power, this movie is OUTSTANDING.

This is historically accurate. Robert embodied Hitler like no one else . So much so it gaves me chills. First the historical accuarcies. I've got Hitler biography with me right. I shall read " Klara was pregnant again. At half past 6 on april 20th 1889 basically that little boy she gave birth too was Hilter, thats right little adolf.Hitler has sibling that died young or at a cry young age. This profoundly affected him and started his hatred for his. He adored his mother so much so that he openly wept at her funeral. When his farther died he felt nothing.drifting through life i enrolled in an art school hoping to become an artist. Just imagine for a second if he had succeeded as an artist. My god history good have been so different. So what I'm trying to say is this is the best mini series on Hitler. if you think its inaccurate thats only minor details.please email me philmoore2008@hotmail.com and ill debate you on Hitler because my biography is the most extensive you can find

"Hitler, the rise of Evil" is clearly produced by people emotionally unburdened by the horrors of World War 2. Which makes watching a refreshing experience.I think its greatest value lies in its crystal clear revealing of the Nazi-mechanism. Of the utterly corrupt ways Hitler used to make it to the top. Having arrived there, this film ends. When on top, the 'Fuhrer' (= German for 'leader') led his Germany to the biggest & most devastating war in history of mankind. Ending six years later in Germany's utter defeat. As a result, Germany lost its eastern provinces (= about 35% of its prewar soil), and was forced to accept a 44 year-split of its remaining territory. Both West and East Germany had to be rebuilt from scrap, their reputations severely damaged by the many Nazi-atrocities inspired by racism. As I said, "Hitler, the rise of Evil" makes an good watch. Set in an acceptable thirties-environment, with (more than) competent acting. In particular Peter O'Toole's role as the aged president von Hindenburg stands out, even adds an extra dimension. My copy of "Hitler, the rise of Evil" also provides a second DVD with two good documentary films. One is about Hitler's personality, the second deals with the forgery of the Hitler-diaries. In 1983 this forgery caused a hilarious scandal in England and Germany, damaging the reputations of several historians and journalists.
