One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Not knowing but feeling this was a bad organization, this how confirmation what I always thought. Never did I think it was this bad. This is a very important show. I hope Leah Remini continues this series so that more people will be made aware of the truths of this so called "religion" as well as helping people to get out. The US Government, FBI all Federal Authorities need to get involved and investigate and stop their illegal activities. Save families, get people's money back.

It takes a lot for me to stop and write a comment on anything online. This series is excellent. I always liked Ms. Remini as a actor, but was turned off by the Tom Cruise loonies of Scientology for which she was a member. I just watched the first season on Hulu and was blown away. Ms. Remini and her co-star and all those who made this production did an outstanding job. It was insightful and riveting. As well, binge watching it gave a perfectly fluid pace at peeling back the rotten onion that is Scientology. I thought this religion/scam was a little flaky, but who knew all that lurked behind the gloss and shine. Really good job, Leah and Mark and all involved. I have a tough shield around my heart. Yet, the folks that stepped forward to tell their stories got in.

This is a demonstration of rare courage on the part of Leah Remini and Mike Rinder to overtly speak out about what Scientology really does, behind what is "says". Very brave, when you think of what Scientology dares doing to critics, using lawyers at high expenses to ruin and destroy critics personal life, even relatives to a very extended degree. This is also the first time that revelations about Scientology behaviour are so worldwide exposed. I guess the IMDb popularity notation can only go down by votes from Scientologists themselves trying to maintain Scientology image. But most of them do not look at this program, they just vote it down...

While I was watching this show, I couldn't help asking: "What about other cults?" As a "former cult member" (believe me, it is not easy to start referring to myself like this! I, too, believed I was saving the world!), I see almost all the mechanisms and symptoms of brainwashing and mind control that I experienced myself while in a cult. And there's another thing. Scientology seems to be taking a lot of money from people, but that cannot be its main motivation. I think their belief system, sense of purpose and, of course, the intoxicating power over other human beings are the thing that fuels these structures. Another former member of my cult wrote something like this: - Without it, you're just nothing. You can sit by the road and cry.I think it would be interesting and useful to compare other cults to Scientology and see what are those human needs they respond to.Scientology is not at all the only one.
