The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Had zero expectations when we started watching this, and overall liked it. Didn't mind the narrator, but we're into that kinda voiceover thing ala Mysteries at the Museum or Ancient Aliens, so didn't find it off putting like so many other reviewers. Liked the structure of the stories as they mislead before getting to the point. Some stories were just more engaging than others, but we absolutely loved Black Stockings and Unboxed. Loved them so much we've played them for friends at our house and didn't mind rewatching those episodes several times. We already knew the background on some stories so those were less interesting to us, but overall a very well put together show with interesting animations/graphics and solid re-enactments. It's not like your watching a movie, it's more like watching an hour of tv on the History channel... but we like that kinda stuff! We hope the second season has more stories we've never heard of.

I was reading the reviews and found it bizarre how people were attacking the narrator Aaron Mahnke's voice. This is the only time I've ever heard his voice and I didn't find anything unpleasant about it. The guy has a hit podcast using this same voice - which doesn't add up with reviews of people not liking his voice. I really didn't put any thought behind the talking. I just listened and watched the stories.I've never listened to the 'Lore Podcast', but I'm certainly going to. This is a wonderful idea, it plays out very well and held my interest (which isn't easy). I will mention that I preferred the first three episodes, but the last three I already knew too much about. I'd like to have more obscure tales; I don't know how easy that would be, but I think it's necessary for this format. My favorite episode was the 3rd one called 'Black Stockings'. I think Ireland has our most famous folklore, but I'd probably look for folk tales originating in countries that Americans have very little knowledge of. There's unheard of myths & legends from places such as Africa that most people have never heard of. There's also several unique tales within the Middle East. Japan has a gigantic collection of legends, although they've become popularized through films. Maybe consider folklore from places that haven't culturally melded with the United States?Great job so far. Looking forward to more.

First off, the guy narrating the show, is he a robot? Did they have an IVR doing the job as narrator instead of a human, it seriously had me wondering!! Next the presumptuous and arrogant attitude the show takes towards our current "scientific prowess and how it can explain everything" like "we know better" now, do we really? Let's continue on with the fact that they specifically pick stories that validate their point and allude to the fact that all stories would do the same... This looked so fun, like it had the potential to be awesome, and instead it was LAME!!

I hadn't heard of the podcast and wasn't sure what to expect, so Lore was a pleasant surprise. I like the cutting back and forth between historical reports that run with a common theme and the tidbits that explain the origins of certain names and language, e.g. "saved by the bell." It can be a little uneven - I imagine the podcast is more concise - here, the dramatic recreation can belabor the stories (especially in the first couple of episodes). But keep watching! The production and acting in later episodes make for some really creepy, true horror viewing. (Kudos to the music directors.) Let's just say that as far as haunted houses and possessed dolls are concerned, Lore gives a lot of mainstream horror movies a run for their money.
