Masters of Sex Audience Reviews

WasAnnon Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
paulellerman After watching about 10 episodes of this show, I've noticed that I'm playing around too much on my phone and not really paying attention to what's going on with the show anymore. Masters of Sex is another tv show in a long line of period pieces that uses the day-in-the-life character drama where the plots seem to wander aimlessly and then disappear only to be replaced by new random plots - the exception being the ongoing sex study. It seems like every time writers make a period piece they follow this same standard formula, which probably appeals to some viewers, but personally I need more than this to sustain interest. Period pieces like Vikings and Downton Abbey were great tv shows because they didn't fall into this very overused standard formula and I think it would be really great if more period pieces tried to do something outside the box. Given that the premise of the show is sex, it seems like this aspect of the show should be more interesting, but after a point even this becomes tedious.
keenast Over all very well acted, and often has compelling writing even if some characters are borderline believable. It has to be said though, nothing we see in this story is real. All of it is an invention. From presenting that the work of Masters and Johnson was a 'first' or 'revolutionary' or whatever (oh my, sexuality has been studied forever before those 2 came along and with much more insight than those two mechanics/statisticians) up to their portrayal of characters and what have you. Nothing of what we see here did actually happen or is anywhere near to it. It's a well made TV fantasy!
lopes_sma It was time for a show that explores the research about human sexuality and exposes the range of all it's issues on cable TV. This is another step to break old taboos and en-light some hot headed viewers about the subject. I myself didn't know about Masters and Johnson study and I'm delighted about it's adaptation. Season 1st was very good but season 2nd is great! The study is developing and lots of subjects are interconnected. I wonder if the 3rd Season will cover later developments in Dr Masters and Virginia Johnson's personal life. This shows has lots of material to cover from the research done from 1957 until the 1990s I sure hope the studios grant time to cover all this and that the actors and the public keep interested in this project.Keep up the great work!
zoocar I enjoyed the first season and Lizzy Caplan still remains captive while I find myself fast forwarding through much of the second season. On par with the first season in many ways, I now find the characters so deeply preformatted that only when there is an unsuspecting turn do I take the time to really indulge my focus. Most of my dismay with the second season revolves around the now almost unwatchable Michael Sheen's character and how selfish, self-serving and downright creepy he has become. The fact that Lizzy Caplan's character is still capable of letting him to now increasing levels makes me want to barf. I don't see how I can continue to consider this entertainment. Best to pass this one by for all the other great drama available.
