Better Late Then Never
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
View MoreExactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
View MoreStrong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
View MoreWhy this show got canceled. Some reasonable points:1. DATED: I mean who were these people? They seemed to be stuck in a time warp of old jokes and situations. The kind where its okay to make lame jokes about female drivers.2. EVERYBODY LOOKED OLD/ CAST: Maybe if the series was made 5 years ago. I mean we have seen all of the cast members in some role or the other. They are known faces, but were never in direct lime light. This is not to say that each of them wasn't a gifted actor. Indeed they were but somehow never exploited to there full potential.3. BEEN THERE DONE THAT: the kind of female inner monologue narrative had already been used to its full potential in mega hits like sex and the city. The leading lady, talented as she was could garner no audience support for her age old problems that the viewer has already seen a million times.4. HUMOR: In the end the whole thing was hammy and trite. You may say that I am being too harsh but I really am not. Imagine this show releasing at the same time as 'How I met your Mother' (and that started in 2005!!!!). The stronger show survived and the weaker one got canceled. All in all, it is at best some good background television while you stream better stuff from the internet. The background music is sincere and jazzy, just like in Seinfeld or Sex and the city. I will give it a 4 for decent acting, time tested but still clean camera-work and the over all success in making someone stop for a second and pay it attention because all the above stated facts ultimately help it in creating a false sense of expectation. If you expect, you pay attention which is more then anyone can ask for. Regardless, a viewer watching it in 2012 has nothing to gain from it.
View MoreI absolutely adore My Boys. As a shopaholic girly girl teenager, this seriously means something. The jokes are witty, sly, and very cheeky. Its not Seinfeld; there's no laugh-track (thank god!) and there's real intellect in the script. The characters are not only hilarious, but easy to relate to.I love dresses and shoes and Gossip Girl, but i love My Boys more. It makes me wish I had a group of guy friends which I could talk about baseball with (a secret passion) and make funny jokes or watch them have a mustache growing contest. This show is seriously for everyone! There's just...MORE to My Boys than everyone hooking up, like on most shows. Its no The Office, but as far as TBS goes, its up there.
View MoreI absolutely loved the first season of this show. As was mentioned in the comments before mine, I can relate with P.J.'s character so much more than I could with other shows such as Sex and The City. I can also relate with P.J.'s friend Stephanie. The two women really seem more grounded and realistic than other female characters on television.I also love the men in this show. It is such a great balance of flaw and great character and truly holds the concept that men are a totally different creature, but should not be at odds with women. We have a lot in common as human beings and as a female viewer it is nice to watch a television show in which the male characters have great qualities and with whom I relate with as well. The writing and acting is sharp and witty and really funny and the acting is fantastic. I get a really warm feeling while watching it and the bottom line is I really care about the people in this story and it is good fun. Oh I also love that there is no laugh track. I HATE laugh tracks! I truly hope this show can continue for many more seasons without losing its charm.
View MoreOh my gosh! I love this show! It has great one liners and is really in its own league. You can't compare another show to it and say it sucks cause it isn't a girlie show. It's called My Boys for a reason and it shows it in each episode. I've followed each episode and find myself laughing every time. I believe it's more family friendly than some shows out there, not every episode is based on sex, maybe gender but not the nasty. It may have it's corny moments but it has a relate-able cause that makes sense to some or maybe a lot of people outside of baseball. It's something I look forward to every Tuesday it's on. It makes me laugh, you may just find yourself with the same feeling.
