Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

For most of the series, I really liked what was happening. The concept was good and the characters (that were introduced in the beginning episodes) were pretty fun. I was happy with everything until the last few episodes where they introduced their only black and *openly gay* characters. These characters were just horrible stereotypes that just seemed so out of place and unnecessary to the show. The gay guy's literal trope was that he's been locked up in prison for abusing and stalking men. The fact that they felt the need to make this guy a shameless pervert is so toxic, especially since we live in a world where many people already have this view about gay men (which is a lot of people's rational for hating and persecuting gay people). Then the only black hero is literally just a blackface stereotype: Big lips and bulging eyes. He is seemingly fearful of any test of authority and doesn't actually contribute anything to the team while he's there. His character is basically there shucking and jiving, obviously just being included for some sort of sick entertainment value. These types of stereotypes are gross and significantly decreased any amount of respect or enjoyment that I had for the show. It's 2018, do better smh.

I have been hearing of One Punch Man on social media for quite some time, there has been a lot of hype surrounding it, finally got to see the anime at last, got to say initially I was confused, was it a parody on other anime's or an genuine original take, either way I was disappointed. I felt it is mediocre at best, the story-line was lacking emotions and the gags were few and far in between. Yes the concept is cool, a superhero who is so powerful he defeats bad guys with a single punch, he is bored with all the easy fights and so was I. Also, the way the story kills cities and thousands of lives without any remorse from even the Heroes just didn't add up for me, I just couldn't get attached to these characters. The animation itself is good, just I didn't enjoy the storytelling.

What's the main charm of this anime is that it doesn't take it's hero seriously. Actually, he's an average guy who turned himself into a seriously strong super hero, though no one recognise him as such. He's in fact kind of an idiot, in a good way, and his easy going way of life kind of makes him likable and, most importantly, funny. He acts not as a super hero, but just like a real person. Now the story is okay, with many action scenes, just enough blood scenes and with interesting plot. The bad guys are not many as to confuse, but they are enough. However, somehow towards the end it kind of gets tiring. But, overall, a very funny anime packed with action.

One Punch Man is a silly, straightforward and repetitive anime, but at the same time, it's different, funny, engaging and the most important thing: you can't stop watching the next episode. In fact, I had to restrain myself from watching one episode after the other. I just watched the first season and the OVAs and now I'm really looking forward to see more. Loved it.
