Good start, but then it gets ruined
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
View MoreActress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
View MoreDoes anyone else feel like one of the characters has studied Chandler from Friends too much?? It's like he's totally mimicking the character. He's trying too hard and it really is obvious. Alyssa is a fun actress and I wish she would be successful with this show, but I think it is the writing that's really lame. Also, she's still so young looking that I don't know that her character having a teenager fits her? Come on, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character on her show has a what - 10 year old?? And she's a bit older than Alyssa. I'm hoping this show does not get canceled for Alyssa's sake. Come on - give us something real to laugh at. Good luck Alyssa ~
View MoreThere was enough canned laughter to fill an entire isle at WalMart. It is distracting and annoying to be 'told' what is funny...all too often erroneously. The dialogue was contrived and stale. There may be potential but the writers and producers are going to have to put forth a better effort in future episodes. Alyssa Milano is a good actress but this show is not a good vehicle for her or any other actor. This is not a show I will watch in the future. Fortunately, some of the new cable shows are more promising. If others provide better reviews on future shows, I might, just might watch it again, but if it is still full of stale dialogue, canned laughter and poor story lines, I will not watch again.
View MoreI really hope this show improves - I may watch it for one more episode. I was VERY disappointed, as I expected clever repartee (zero out of ten) and instead saw ridiculous characters and outrageous gags (one out of ten). Milano is usually so good - not here. The others I don't know at all, and I am reluctant to follow their careers after this debacle. But in fairness to the cast, the writing is the biggest problem. If they hire new writers, the show might pull something off. Character development is weak, too. If the heroine has only a childhood guy friend, his loser roommate, and her nympho sister for company, how can she hope to attract a "winner" date into her midst? Her circle of friends is clearly a liability. Maybe, she could tell them all in episode 2 that she's outgrown them, then she'd get a worthwhile date and we could solve all her problems in a two-episode season! She'd have better luck on "The Bachelor" or another dating reality show than in accepting dating advice from her inner circle of dating doom.
