    Gripping story with well-crafted characters

    Gutsycurene

Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

I am a 15 years old student and I was expecting this movie would be a little boring but actually I discovered a movie which is really well put together and realistic. I think the actors played well because, for example, we can see all the emotions on the face of Kunta Kinta, who is an African caught by his enemies and turn into a slave, who is the famous actor Malachi Kirby. The pain, sadness and all the other emotions are visible on the actors' faces, it's almost real ! There is one scene which left a mark in my memory. This scene in the ship was really impressive and breathtaking. The soundtrack was very admirable in different scenes (for example the scene in the ship). The songs in native languages were splendid and helped to be involved. The special effects were also fine and well done. But warning, this movie is violent so I let you know that is not a movie for young child and it could be hard for some persons. The end was a little flat because many informations arrive in the same time. To end this review, I could say that "Roots" is a good movie and I advise you to see it if you want to know how was the slavery in the past.

Hi, my name is Sacha, I'm 16 years old, I'm a french guy from Angers. I like watching History movies. Before I watch Roots, I though it was boring movie, without epic or moving scenes. The movie is about Kunta Kinte, the main character, who is captured by an african rival clan, and gave to British; we follow his history from Africa to The United States where he is sold.During the movie, Malacky Kirby and Forest Whitaker are awesome, their acting is very interesting and moving, they managed to transmit strong emotions, by their faces, how they speak. Ht emovie was realized Will Packer and Marc Toberoff in 2016. In general, I find the movie is well realized, but there are a little of low scene, a little boring. There are period where it's a little low. In return, the soundtrack is just amazing! The traditional songs are awesome, they are moving, they beautify the scenes. For me Roots is a wonderful, fabulous, moving and beautiful movie, but also with some slow scenes and a little boring. The African culture is incredibly well done. Finally I recommend this movie, I hope you'll like it.

Hello I'm Cedric and I'm 15 years old, I'm french of Angers, I gonna do the most expressive review of a realistic movie of slave trade : « Roots ». So, to begin I gonna talk about disadvantage of the movie because I think it's too much violent, such as the scene on the boat where there are the heads of uncle Silla and other mens, for me it's violence for nothing because it's not important. I think there are many useless scenes such as the scene with Kunta kinte (main character) on the horse because, 5min after the escape he is catch again and i think there are no message behind this. Now the avantages, I think the movie is very well by acting by the story line, the film is realistic and impressive, to finish, I think it's a memorable adaptation of this period of history.

For me, being 15 years old, I thought this film would be average, a simple movie on slavery. However, the movie was splendid and well put together. ''Roots'' (2016) is an adaptation of an older series. We follow an African man sold to slavery in the America of the 18th century. For the acting, I especially like how Malachi Kirby show his emotion in his role of the lead character. We see is panicking, troubling. The role of Forest Whitaker is just as notable when he is speaking, he shows his emotions to Kunta. The soundtracks of the movie are very fine and show emotions to the spectator. Differently, I especially like the game of languages, the Mandika and the English. Finally, for the scenes, some are shocking and others were excellent.
