From my favorite movies..
Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
View MoreThe movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
View MoreMostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
View MoreTerra Nova had the perfect ground work to be an excellent TV series. The concept was excellent, the setting was believable, and the overarching story line was entertaining, it's the story lines of the individual episodes that let it down. You would think that soldiers living in a time where there are hundreds of carnivorous dinosaurs around that they would invest in doors on their rovers, not go places alone or avoid traveling at night. It seems like half of the episodes start with this being an issue. It's little things like this that make watching Terra Nova somewhat repetitive. I also felt that at some time chemistry between characters was lacking, this was especially obvious between Jim and Zoe, the father-daughter moments between them felt like they missed the mark. Lucas Taylor did not feel like a convincing villain, making scenes feel more like a brat of a kid spitting the dummy rather than a wild-hardened villain seeking revenge.I did however feel that the story had some redeeming factors, the idea to destabilise the fracture and send an army through was a great and believable plot point (even if it was foreshadowed). Costume designers did excellent given their resources and most of the acting felt as though it fit well. The visual effects, especially in the final episodes did take a nose dive (the dinosaur back on earth was shocking) but throughout the rest of the season they suited the show.I definitely wish that Terra Nova had picked up their game enough to hold on for another season or two, I feel like it had a lot of potential. With that being said I can't blame the studio from cutting it off. Definitely worth a watch if you love the odd Dino.
View MoreOK, so it's not as bloody and brutal as Jurassic Park and some other series out there - that's probably why it wasn't popular and got discontinued. What a shame indeed!!!Finally a great series with believable characters, an interesting story line and interpersonal dynamics, even thrown in some good values and excellent Jurassic Park style dinosaurs and high tech gadgets - and it gets chucked. Major bummer!!! Come on, let's see some more! Star Trek also was scheduled to be discontinued.. and look at the legend it's become! Intelligent entertainment won't go out of style!
View MoreA modern day family lives in the age of dinosaurs. This short-lived series may have been axed a few years back but, as you can see, people are still posting about it now. Which does suggest that maybe it should never have been axed after 13 episodes.I don't think The 100 has exactly filled the gap left by Terra Nova. Some others have complained that there was not enough dinosaur footage or that the creatures looked too fake. None of this entered my mind when watching it. In fact, I think the whole series looked grand and epic. I have no complaints about the visual side of it.The casting was great.I wanted this to be the Lost In Space/Land Of The Giants of this century and I think it is a crying shame Terra Nova never went beyond 13 episodes.
View MoreBecause trying to make sense of this dreadful, over-hyped, under written piece of frelling dren has actually make me dumberer. The premise was: humans clinging to the edge in a world of dinosaurs. The actuality is: Look out! It's another Fantasysaurus Bulletproofus! Our guns, they do nothing! Again! A Pseudo-Science solution is required. Huzzah for Pseudo-Science! Again! No sense of frontier survival. Huge clean glazed and painted houses with waxed flooring, vast wardrobes of clean clothes, clean bedding, clean hair. Hard work is occasionally mentioned but rarely seen. Who built this colony? It's certainly not the mob of spineless, idle loafers currently inhabiting it.Far too much tedious politics and plot. Why did a group of settlers split off and how did they survive? Is Terra Nova in a different time stream from 2149 or not? Who made the strange rock markings? SPOILER: You won't care. You really, truly won't, because you have no reason to care about any of the idiotic, posturing plonkers involved."Teen" tribulations played out by the usual superannuated mob of 20-somethings desperately clinging to their lost youth. The love interests for both of our irksome teen protagonists are played by actors about seven years older than them - and they looks it - which is well into creepy territory.Mediocre to poor acting. Most of the supporting cast is tolerable enough, but Shelly Conn is simply dreadful, far too focused on ee-nun-cee-aye-ting her plummy drawl to actually put any character into the performance.Lazy, plagiaristic writing. Plots and whole lines are simply ripped off wholesale from other, better productions. It's no surprise that the dreadful Brannon Brago, the man who killed Star Trek, has his toxic finger in this festering pie. Characters are mere stereotypes, the dialogue is entirely exposition.Normally I'd bemoan the waste of talent, but there really isn't any in evidence.Terra Nova was rightfully put out of its misery and there's no need to mourn its passing.
