Neb offers Marcus info concerning his mother and they visit the site where her ashes are buried. Meanwhile, Charlie (Charlotte), wanting to impress at a friend's Sweet 16 party, ""borrows"" her mother's credit card to charge a new dress with plans on returning the dress after the party and having the charge credited back to mom's account without her knowing. Daddy's Girl

Ron is offended when Gerry Seaton, a new contractor client for his and Siggy's hardware store only seems to interact with Siggy, who seemingly has no problem dealing with someone who ignores his black partner. Ayesha confronts her boyfriend Roger Clayton (who's also an officer serving under Ayesha's father Neb) after she hears whispers of Roger's infidelity and catches him with another woman he's been seeing. After hearing that Neb reassigned Roger to a desk job, Ayesha is also upset with her dad for not letting her handle her personal life her way. Meanwhile, Derrick, wanting to change his image consults Marcus, who introduces him to gangsta rap and a thuggish style of dress. After emulating what he hears in the music, Derrick learns the hard way that he shouldn't use certain words, especially when he doesn't know the meaning behind them.

Under One Roof Audience Reviews

Ogosmith Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
nicolasdanjon I can help it; It has to be a 10/10. When I came to the US as an exchange student (I'am French), I did't think I would live such an experience. Not only because I got to be an extra on the set (my first experience on a real production) but also because I got to meet James Earl Jones and Joe Morton, two great actors (and get their autographs). The show was very well written. Too bad it didn't last. If anyone has any idea on how to get the DVD or VHS of the episodes...I'm interested. The location was Ballard High School in Seattle. The School has been destroyed and rebuilt since. I heard marlin Santana died...I was his classmate in the show. Too bad, we were the same age. Anyway, I wish the show could be found on DVD or VHS.
dorseytunes This show was way too good to let go. I really enjoyed it and still puzzled why it was taken off the air. James Earl was fantastic and the rest of the cast complimented each other. There weren't many programs in the 90's that I would watch religiously, but this was one of them. Having strong African American characters in prime time was refreshing. Having it in the Seattle location was a nice change as well. I think we've seen enough programs from New York. I'm ready for something like this type of program to be aired. I've had enough sitcoms and want a good serious drama involving real issues of our time. Hoping for DVD issue of "Under One Roof"!
debm1234 I remember this show as well. It was about a family, a real family who loved and cared for each other a lot. Although the cast was African-American, the principles could have been any race. It was that good. It's just that it was so much fun to see James Earl Jones as the family patriarch, the relationship between Joe Morgan and Vanessa Bell Calloway, the children, and the other relatives on TV each week...if you could find the show that is. CBS was very creative in killing the show. By changing the time slot each week, CBS went to great lengths to drive the existing audience away and prevented a potential audience from tuning in and becoming fans. The show was serious, it was funny, so many situations rang true or felt familiar. It made you think about your own family and if you didn't have a family, they became your family. They were a hard working, intact African-American family long on love and discipline. A family who loved each other and their community. But, I guess without a hip-hop soundtrack or a tribal counsel at the end, it was bound to get bumped.Just a fan! Debbie
ernest c. barnes Although the show was short lived on CBS, it was a great drama about an African American family living together coping with today's issues such as racism, infidelity and unruly children just to name a few. Of course the entire cast were excellent which was headed by the honorable James Earl Jones, Joe Morton, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Essence Atkins and the scene stealer Merlin (The Steve Harvey Show) Santana as the young troubled teen. Its too bad other networks didn't consider picking this prize winner of a drama up when CBS axed it. I'm sure it would have been a hit on the WB or BET networks.
