Sadly Over-hyped
Really Surprised!
Absolutely Brilliant!
I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
View MoreI really loved this series overall. The acting is excellent, the plot is winding and clever, and much of it is quite funny. I was consistently drawn in, entertained, and curious what would happen next. The ride does, however, become a bit bumpy towards the end. The problems are mainly related in some way to religion, both in an utterly nonsensical conspiracy and in some overt supernatural elements that are hinted at throughout the series but are ramped up far too much in the latter part. Then there's the end, which is both predictable and unsatisfying. Even though this was a miniseries, it's clear that the intention was to have a second season, so they left a mystery unanswered one or two threads loose. This would have been unsatisfying even if a second season were coming, but it's not, which makes it *super* annoying. (Hopefully at some point the developers will give an interview and fill in the blanks.)If not for the ending, I would have given this a 9 rating instead of an 8. But I've seen far more frustrating finales, so I didn't feel the ending entirely ruined the series; it just made it weaker than it should have been.
View MoreOK so its the end of the world, some people are going crazy most aren't.. like cops who are determined to arrest an escaped fugitive who hasn't really done anything, but accused of hacking NSA.. but the NSA didn't hire her?! because I'm pretty sure thats what they would do in that situation, then one of the only guys that can save the world gets arrested and he has to convince the police to let him go so he can indeed save the world.. ugh.. ya maybe in world run by children this would happen. its just sloppy and poorly written.. if one of the few people that could save the world killed someone in actuality he would be let go immediately, in fact I'm sure he would never be allowed to leave a room or go home and sleep, like they seem to do a lot of in this show.. seriously this show is in no mans land.. its not a comedy, not drama, not sci-fi it's all of the above, and thats the problem!! if you want to have huge gaps in the plot and story, and try to sell the audience unbelievable things then you have to pick A Category! if this was a comedy i would over look the fact that pretty much everyone is related in one way or another, if it was a drama i would ignore the lack of comedy, and if it was a sci-fi i would ignore the lame drama... but its none of the above. and what you have served me is a Shat sandwich.. its not going down.
View MoreIt's too good to stop and whoever wrote it is definitely smart enough to keep it going. Not many dramas can include so many genres done so well, make them interlink so well plus make each show an improvement on the preceding one. There's political, romantic, dramatic, humour, science fiction, religious, scenic, scientific, glamour, sociological and psychological and all done brilliantly. You just don't know what's coming next. Plus it's a tough call to pick who's the standout actor, most of the leads are equally brilliant. Just an excellent production. One last thing, as well as sophisticated and imaginative it's earthy, plus even incorrect, the racist, the soldier and the clergy are painted with sympathy. It's great.
View MoreThe show follows a handful of group of people a few days before an announced apocalypse. The stories have ups and down and are a bit boring, except the "religious" one that I found intriguing.Overall the show was promising : the general idiocy and nonsense was bearable, resulting in a generally good entertainment. But they had to ruin it in a fated moment where criminal stupidity is used as a lever for the plot, several times in one episode (I'll explain in a paragraph). In summary this is not the worst I ever seen and if you have high resistance to unbelievable, weak, idiotic plots with their share of holes, you may still enjoy it.Spoiler about what I mean follows:It happens the day where the survival of humanity is put in the balance, just a few days before everyone is expected to die in case of failure. a cop basically tells one of the protagonist trying to save the world: "0K, I'll let you save the world but first you have to tell me where your criminal sister is" (the girl is basically a nobody). And puts him in jail when the guy does not talk. This is wrong on so many level : the general behavior of the characters, the priorities of everybody, the fact that important people for the future of the human species are not guarded 24/7 because anything could put said future in jeopardy (virus, car accident, food poisoning, stupid cops, maniac wanting to kill the last hope, ...)And the "geniuses" tasked to save the world are passing for clowns : only an idiot would measure time not only from a central clock but worse : in a unit affected by time savings. On another hand, something a bit like that has happened a few years ago. A rocket has been lost (self-destructed) because of units incompatibilities between parts of the machine (Imperial vs Metric).
