Marianne, confident behind her French beauty, douses the awkwardness and anxiety of the pretense with grace. Still, leaden with suspicion, Max and Marianne test each other's core masculine and feminine vulnerabilities with romantic envy as their duty draws closer. The film lays foundation for its latter half as the couple, threatened by loss, succumb passionately to each other in a swirling sandstorm on the eve of assassination.Relieved after great success, Max and Marianne fly to the cobblestone streets of London where they hope to nourish their love in peace. Max exudes confidence in the routine safety of his work while Marianne tends to motherly duties, and the couple enjoy a short-lived serenity. After harrowing news of his wife's identity spreads through upper command, Max faces a schism of love and paranoia. The film rolls the cozy, family pretense forward as the couple shy away from each other emotionally and former suspicion resurfaces. I'm one of those people that love these types of films, where the ending ain't really all that happy. Something about them just rings true to me. In my opinion, a good film is this: Some people should love it, and some people should hate it. That's right where a good film should be.Moving on, I love the spy thrillers, so that's what roped me in on this one. Marion Cotillard does a fabulous job. I can't find anywhere to knock on her performance. This wasn't Pitt's BEST performance...but it sure as hell wasnt bad either. The reason I've rated this film as an 8 is mainly due to poor editing. There's numerous times where the continuity of action was very poor, and some very rough cuts when it came to sound.All in all, I enjoyed this film very much, and recommend it to anyone with an open mind.

This was an amazing movie . I was drawn into the characters immediately. The chemistry between these two actors was genuine. Glad I took the time to watch this movie !!

If you watched Jin-Roh, that awesome japanese anime movie, when you watch this one you will know what I mean (the color of the hat she wears at the end proves my point). If you didn't watch Jin-Roh, stop wasting your life and go watch it. And then maybe watch this one. Maybe.
