When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

So I was searching On Demand last night for a horror movie I haven't watched yet. I chose this flop. Thankfully it was free. It felt as though they ran too low on budget for retakes and post-production, and just threw it out there anyway to cut some losses. The WORST movie I watched in years. The acting, directing, piecing the scenes. One scene, Mischa is crying on the phone saying how creepy the apartment feels, when little has happened. Then, her sister sees the ghost of a girl in the bathtub with her, and the scene cuts to her nonchalantly strolling into the kitchen in her robe, no sign of distress. It's incredibly disjointed. The cast and crew must have to watch the finished product before release, right? How could they let this out???

I'm so confused to as why Mischa Barton is an actress. She was stilted and awkward. The girl that played her sister was just as terrible. Rebecca De Mornay was off as well (spoiler: her death scene was dumb). Corey Sevier wasn't bad in comparison to the rest, but it doesn't help that he's pretty good looking in my opinion. The little girl was creepy only because little girls are creepy. Another problem I had with the film was the super. He was definitely pervey. But why didn't Janet or Lara call the building owner or cops to complain? It wasn't scary at all which was probably the biggest disappointment. I think I could handle the bad acting if I had actually been scared.

There is a reason some remakes do not work (though I had no idea this was one, until I checked on IMDb to write this review). So while I can't compare this with the original, I know that the filmmakers saw something in it. And the idea is not bad at all. The movie itself sometimes also does have some nicely set up shots. You might even be scared once (or twice). But while you may be fond of the actors involved, this should not be included in their portfolio. Especially the scenes where they are talking to themselves. Not cool and not necessary and yet we find ourselves annoyed by it so many times. The script was either weak to begin with or they made it that way, whatever the case, this movie should be avoided

Seriously. This movie is pretty bad in exactly to the same way 'The Room' was, which in the case of 'The Room' made it entertaining. Of course, could I make it through 'The Room' without the Rifftrax? I doubt it. Did I make it through 'Apartment 1303'? Yes I did, but not without making up some Riffing of my own. Will I watch it again like I have done with 'The Room'? Maybe because I think I might have missed a couple things while we were discussing the plot holes but I'm dubious. Still, this is definite fodder for those of you who like to riff and make fun of movies. I gave it 5 rating because I am one of those people and this movie scores a 10 in that department so I averaged that 10 with what this movie would normally be rated by myself as a serious horror film, and rounded down. You do the math.
