One of my all time favorites.

I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

"Apollo 13" is an absolute masterpiece of the 20th century. Although the film is 2 Hours & 20 minutes long, the film is so well acted, so well written, and so well directed that the time just flys by. It is so suspenseful and accelerating that you fell like your watching a film half the length. Ron Howard knocked it out of the park with this film in a way that he never did before or, debatably, since. Although Howard would go on to win Best Director for "A Beautiful Mind," it didn't have to emotional power that "Apollo 13" does (although Russell Crowe was snubbed for Best Actor). It is one of the few films that made me tears-eyed at the end.Performance wise, this film is stacked to the brim with talent. Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton (RIP), and Kevin Bacon are all fantastic as the three main astronauts, but the stand out performances of the film are from Ed Harris, who is in charge of the mission and tries everything he can to make sure the astronauts get to the moon safely (and when the mission goes awry, make sure they get back to Earth safely). Harris always has this presence about him whenever he's in a movie that always makes him electrifying to watch. The other stand out Kathleen Quinlan, who plays Tom Hanks wife. She is fantastic as the worried spouse who is still trying to keep herself composed during the whole ordeal. Now I would be remiss if I didn't mention the amazing techniquality of this movie. The Editing and Sound design are fantastic, and both won well deserved Oscars, and the score by the late, great James Horner can be positively heart-pounding and then heart-warming. Overall, watch"Apollo 13" is definite must-watch that still holds up after 23 years.

Apollo 13It takes too much of the time to set the plots and the characters (almost the first hour is spent on it) but when it hits, it hits hard and fast with gripping screenplay that keeps the audience engaged until the curtain drops (its second act is thrilling). Ron Howard makes it look like easy and effortless through his brilliant execution skills but unfortunately isn't supported well enough on the editing department. Tom Hanks leads the way with another stellar performance from his side and is supported by a great cast like Ed Harris and Kevin Bacon. Apollo 13 isn't as important or nail biting as the makers think but it surely is witty and thought provoking that was just piled upon by the undercooked emotions like it was essential to install.

Always great to watch, no matter how many times you already have seen it. Apollo 13 is one of those movies for sure. First class directing, a cast that is simply mind blowing, character interactions you actually believe and a good soundtrack on top. This is Hollywood at its best. Needless to point out that Tom Hanks scores in this movie big time, for he is one of the greatest actors of all time in my opinion. What I do want to shine a light on is the amount of heart he transports in his role as Jim Lovell. In one word: impressive! Also Kevin Bacon and Ed Harris deliver an outstanding performance. The film may build a little slow at first, but when things are about to get serious you can't take your eyes off the screen anymore. Apollo 13 is one hell of a movie and this was definetely not the last time I watched it. And I probably have seen it about ten times before already. A true classic!

The Hateful Citizen

A good historical film that traces the Apollo 13 mission, we have three visions of action, the rocket where are the three astronauts, the NASA command post where the best scientists of the world try to help these three men stuck in the space and the families, mostly Jim Lovell's, played by Tom Hanks, these three points of view are quite interesting. I think that the fact that I already know the story, and therefore the end, disturbed me a bit, at no time did I think "they may not be able to survive", it's a disadvantage, we do with. All in all the movie is good or very good but I think, even if it seems harmless, I would have liked that the sentence "Houston, we've had a problem" has more importance and is said in a tone perhaps more solemn than just said like that, it is certainly why I rate 7 and not 8. "Houston, we've had a problem" was essential.
