Class of 1999 Trailers View All

The time is in the future and the youth gang violence is so high that the areas around some schools have become "free-fire zones", into which not even the police will venture. When Miles Langford, the head of Kennedy High School, decides to take his school back from the gangs, robotics specialist Dr. Robert Forrest provides "tactical education units". These are amazingly human-like androids that have been programmed to teach and are supplied with devastatingly effective solutions to discipline problems. So when the violent, out-of-control students of Kennedy High report for class tomorrow, they're going to get a real education... in staying alive!

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

Filmmaker Mark L. Lester has sure made a name for himself in cinema world, mostly being movies from the 1980s. He gave us some of the most homoerotic action films from that time, including 'Commando' and 'Showdown in Little Tokyo' to name a few. 'Class of 1999' is no different either and is a sibling sequel to his film a few years beforehand in 'Class of 1984'. With '1984', you had a new teacher come to a violent high-school where most of the kids are in gangs and try to make a difference. Things get out of hand for sure. When we cut to 'Class of 1999', the same kind of setup is provided, but this time the gangs of kids are forced to deal with new teachers that are actually robots hellbent on not just teaching lessons, but taking lives too. You can see the similarities between 'Robocop', 'Westworld', 'Terminator', with a little 'Fury Road' throughout the film as a recent student named Cody (Bradley Gregg from 'Stand By Me'), who has just gotten out of jail and wants to change his ways, enters the high school with the new teachers who are in fact robots that look human. These robots, played by Patrick Kilpatrick, John P. Ryan, and Pam Grier don't mess around and are not above beating students bloody, killing them, and in some of the more homoerotic scenes - spanking them hundreds of times in front of people. Don't get me wrong, these high-schoolers need discipline, but to what ends? The students must band together and fight these robot teachers, while trying not to kill each other. The nostalgic 80's wardrobe, one-liners, practical effects, and feel all comes to light in this one movie. It's a trip down memory lane and is still quite fun to watch, even if the whole story and premise is over-the-top and ridiculous. The film always sticks to its guns and goes all the way, never afraid to turn away to violence or even its cheesiness. This is what the early 80's thought the future was going to be like as far as education and students go, which needless to say, they had no faith in us. It also gives us a satire on how far should the government and private companies go in showing discipline at schools. 'Class of 1999' is sure as hell entertaining, even to this day, and has some fun cameos, including Stacy Keach and Malcolm McDowell. The practical effects of the robots and gory wounds all look excellent with no sign of CGI yet. I still love this film.

Class of 1999 (1989) in my opinion is one of the greatest Sci-Fi futuristic action flicks from Director Mark L. Lester! The greatest man who gave us Commando (1985), Class of 1984 (1982), Armed and Dangerous (1986) and Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991). This is one of my favorite movies, I grew up as a teen! I was surprised that movies like this exist. I love this flick alongside Commando (1985), this is my second favorite best movie from Mark L. Lester. I think the movie is great. I have seen this one a lot and love it I never get tired of watching it. Don't pay attention to the rotten tomatoes this movie is great. But everyone has their own opinion. I love this movie about battle robots and gangs in the school and out of the school was just awesome. The idea was awesome and none of the films are that great. This movie should be released on Blu-ray! OK lets talk some about the actors why I think this movie is great. I was never a big fan of Bradley Gregg but he was in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors one of my favorite horror slasher sequels from A Nightmare on Elm Street series. He made a lot of movies but those two for me are memorable. The most that I remember him is from this movie as Cody Culp the leader from Black Heart gangs. The character Bradley played was written on his skin. The second reason I do think this movie is also great because of actress Traci Lind. The actress was very beautiful but very underrated. I remember her from 21 Jump Street (1987) my favorite childhood TV series from Johnny Depp. I still love this TV show I don't care what anyone says and Fright Night Part 2 (1988) before she made this movie. I still think the actress is very underrated and she did acted her character perfect. It is sad she doesn't make any movies anymore. I am wondering where is she now?.I think Mark L. Lester was really imaginative director for making two films Class of 1984 and Class of 1999, two similar movies that both based in the futuristic America and realizes them almost perfectly with all the tools that fit the task -- actors, stunts, puppetry, models, and CGI. Without the vision, this film would be nothing. Without the tools, this film would be nothing. The action scenes were really outstanding. The stunts were really completely insane in scale (at one point, a gangs on a motorcycles are burning in the 2nd high school floor from a Pam Grier as Ms. Connors as a flammable fire torch out of her hand). ( Mr. Bryles - Patrick Kilpatrick fires a rocket launcher from his hand and explodes the motorcycle from a gang member and the motorcycle fly's out off the window in a burning explosion). Only in the 80's they had such a movies, since today I have not seen one good action movie. Class of 1999 is Rated: R. Today action movies are rated PG-13 not R anymore. Even Terminator: Genisys is rated PG-13 as one of the worst movies of this year! This movie is like Terminator robots from "Megatech" are destroying all humans including high school students. This movie has violence, gore, blood, gangs, fist fights, knives, explosions and so on. This flick has everything in it. Including good actors that made the task, Malcolm McDowell and Stacy Keach were perfect actors that made the job done as in their different roles. Patrick Kilpatrick, Pam Grier and John P. Ryan as three not human androids cyborg Terminators battle robots did a perfect task as dangerous killer machines in the future. The Furture set in Seatle as the futuristic World was a great vision. This movie follows The time is the future and youth gang violence is so high that the areas around some schools have become "free fire zones," into which not even the police will venture. When Miles Langford (Malcolm McDowell), the principal of Kennedy High School, decides to take his school back from the gangs, robotics specialist Dr. Robert Forrest (Stacy Keach) provides "tactical education units." These human-like androids have been programmed to teach and are supplied with weapons to discipline problems. These kids will get a lesson... in staying alive!!! This movie is awesome and deserves a great score for me is 10, but everyone has their own opinion!Class of 1999 is a 1990 American science fiction film directed by Mark L. Lester. It is the director's follow-up to his 1982 film Class of 1984.10/10 Grade: A Studio: Lightning Pictures, Original Pictures, Vestron Pictures Starring: Bradley Gregg, Traci Lind, Malcolm McDowell, Stacy Keach, Patrick Kilpatrick, Pam Grier, John P. Holy sh*t...if you only watch one horror this Halloween season...definitely make it this film!!! Class Of 1999 can be described as an amazingly perfect cheesy combination of The Warriors meets Mad Max & Punishment Park- with some Chopping Mall & Terminator on the side. Yes. It is that f*cking epic.Fully automatic gang warfare has broken out in Seattle, around Kennedy High, rendering it a "free fire zone" (meaning that police will not enter it...and there is no law). To counter this anarchic state of affairs, the US government has formed the Educational Department of Defense to step in and intervene with maximum security measures- including android teachers who dole out all manner of corporate punishment. They've also released a number of teenage criminals from jail, directly into the experimental schooling program...where zero tolerance is rule number one.Our protagonist is Cody, leader of the Blackhearts gang, who was offered clemency and released as part of this program. He's pretty reasonable compared to the rest of the punk kids at the school...which leads him to form a romantic relationship with the Principals daughter. After the battledroid teachers murder a couple of his friends, he catches a whiff of what is going on at the school. He tries to warn everybody and bring together rival factions in order to combat these unhuman psychopaths...but he has a hard time convincing them. That is until it becomes glaringly evident...cue the apocalyptic robot-human war.Turns out that these artificial intelligence androids were originally developed for warfare purposes, but then marketed to the government as a surefire way to address the youth and crime in and around America's major cities. And it seems the bots aren't absorbing their educational directives very well. This film is absolutely brilliant. There is not a single thing about this film that doesn't totally rule. It's a true cult classic. For what it is, there is a surprisingly well known cast, including Stacey Keach as the head of the DED program and Malcolm McDowell as the Principal and father of Cody's love interest. The special effects are downright, f*cking amazing. From the fight scenes to the robotic reveals. Everything about this is just awesome. And there are sooooo many great one liners. This is cheese perfected. Up there with Evil Dead 2 and AOD as a masterpiece of cult cinema. Must see.8.5 out of 10.

The setup: Robot teachers have been secretly placed in the schools where the students have run riot. The teachers do a good job of controlling the unruly youngsters, until they go too far and some students get suspicious. The verdict: It is plagued by plot holes and inane dialog. Actually, the movie itself is nothing that special, but it has some good stuff. It is a pretty unnecessary film. If you are looking for a good movie with good acting this might not be for you. While this isn't a great film by any means, it is entertaining. It is difficult to watch and has no shortage of abuse and neglect.
