Truly Dreadful Film
Nice effects though.
Load of rubbish!!
Don't listen to the negative reviews
The whole story in the movie just doesn't add up. Really not a good movie. Sad to see Samuel in such a movie.
View MoreI will steal a phrase from another IMDb user and tell you straight away, this is a classic example of a film script that could use a few re- writes.Samuel L Jackson is a crime scene cleaner (and also retired policeman) who one day goes to clean a site, and forgets to put back the house key. Next day he goes to the house, and he finds the people living there did not know a crime was committed there the previous day. Is someone trying to set him up?***SPOILER***Jackson finds almost immediately that his cleanup request was not legit; someone called in giving a fake name, and he just went through the procedure. Now, later in the film, he finds a MacGuffin (generic item of interest in a film's plot) which prevents him from going straight to the police. But, BEFORE he finds the MacGuffin, he's just an honest ex-policeman that finds someone has forged police papers. You would think he'd go straight to the police to give them all the evidence he has, non?But no, he doesn't. He needs to get himself tangled up in the plot for no reason, other than getting the film to move forward. If he did the one reasonable and most likely action, then the film would end right there and then.Aside from this horrible plot hole, the film isn't bad. There is a cringy sub-plot involving his young daughter and deceased wife, but it's completely extraneous to the story. The film is rather well directed and Jackson puts in a really good performance, be he is put down by both Eva Mendez being wooden and horrible as always (i cannot fathom how this person can be called an actress), and by the Bad Guy being the same Bad Guy in every role he plays, totally giving away the ending. It's not a good film. I would not recommend this if not as a negative example to people wanting to write for film.5/10 - watchable but completely ruined by the mistakes.
View MoreDirected by Renny Harlin, "Cleaner" is slow moving but only 84 min or so runtime crime-drama. It doesn't brake any ground story or plot-wise, but is fairly interestingly narrated and played by protagonist Samuael L Jackson. There seemed to be too much reliance on showing blood and crime scenes as a grotesque sort of mood or setting tool. That kind wears thin being overused in the movie. However there is a decent amount of character development for Harris, Jackson, and Keke Palmer (satisfactorily playing Jackson's on-screen daughter). The main problem though I had towards the end was supposedly Mendez somehow romantically involved with a Harris character almost twice her age - didn't make sense or hold water. Still the movie manages to set a foreboding mood, and makes good of the locations. Music is serviceable as well. Give it a 6/10
View MoreThis movie started out quite good and had a different premise than most movies. Samuel L. Jackson is a "cleaner" who cleans up after crime scenes. After he does one job where a man was murdered, he realizes he forgot to return the key which was under the planter at the front door. When he returns to the house and knocks on the door a woman tells him to come in and it turns out she is having a surprise party for someone. She also has no idea what he is talking about and to cover, he says he must have the wrong address.Turns out the order to clean didn't really come from the police dept but from some unknown person. Sounds rather interesting doesn't it? Well it all goes down the tubes and after watching for an hour we turned it off to watch an Everybody Loves Raymond repeat. That's how boring it was. I rarely turn off a crime/mystery movie because I want to know "who did it". We figured out who it probably was but by that point we just didn't care.Perhaps it got better but from the reviews I read on here, it didn't.I give it a thumbs down - don't waste your time.
