That was an excellent one.

Surprisingly incoherent and boring

Masterful Movie

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

When I wanted to go to the store to buy the DVD for a very cheap price, I searched this movie up on youtube and someone uploaded it in parts. Thank goodness I didn't spend my money. I'm not much of a Brad Pitt fan, but I was curious to see his first major role in this low budget film. He was listed third in the top billing but he gets a lot of screen time being the boyfriend acting like a jerk.The story is about students who are being murdered one by one, and as an audience we keep on guessing who the killer is until the finale in this "whoduit" concept. Although I hate the fact the viewers already know who the killer is from the very start. While this movie is in the horror genre, there really isn't much gore as a horror fan might expect nor does it have any suspense like the movie "Scream." The movie also has a bit of a love triangle between our three main characters and some humor, but overall the movie fails to do so; we aren't given much about the characters so we don't really care what happens to them. The dialogue and acting could be a lot better since many of the lines sounded campy, and as if the writer may have written the script in one night and didn't have it proofread enough. I didn't mind this movie made on a low budget, but the story could've been better especially the acting. If you want to watch slasher film that you don't need to take seriously or need something to watch while doing something else or if you're just curious about seeing Brad in his first major role before he became a star, then this movie may be for you. After watching this movie, I even said to myself that I should remake this film. lol

I'm a huge fan of "B" movies. Especially "B" horror movies from the 80's but this one simply has nothing to offer. A complete waste of time. The story is lack luster and very unbelievable. The lack of a story line usually does not pose a serious problem for most "B" movie fans as long as there are other components of the film that make it fun to watch. This movie comes up short in almost every aspect of what I consider to be "B" movie magic. The only value I was able to find in this title was the numerous continuity issues. They gave me something to do while I was waiting for this movie to end. Don't waste your time on this one.

A slasher flick is a slasher flick, but when the dialog is terrible and the actors aren't much better, it becomes just another ho hum event; one that I am sure that Brad Pitt would like to forget.Pitt had his first credited movie roles in 1989. This was one of them, and the lesser of the two according to most fans. He plays a dumb jock that isn't even a good jock. Fortunately, he has his girlfriend (scream-queen Jill Schoelen) to save him from the slasher. Why do these girls hook up with the dumb jocks? Maybe because it's Brad Pitt! With Roddy McDowall, Martin Mull, and Ione Skye's brother (Donovan Leitch) as the slasher, it was fairly predictable; down to the lame attempt at humor with the cheerleader taking off her panties before the game.I am surprised that the American Legion or VFW hasn't protested the use of the American Flag in this movie. Maybe they figured no one saw it.I'm not sure if this was released first or Happy Together was. It could be Pitt's film debut. Anybody know?

A mysterious killer bumps off various students and teachers at a high school. Possible suspects include angry jock Dwight Ingalls (a moody turn by a pre-stardom Brad Pitt), troubled former mental patient Brian Woods (an excellent performance by Donovan Leitch), lecherous principal Mr. Dante (a deliciously leering Roddy McDowall), and creepy weirdo janitor Shultz (a hilariously manic Robert Glaudini). Sweet Paula Carson (winningly played by the adorable Jill Schoelen) finds herself caught in the middle of Dwight and Brian. Director Rospo Pallenberg, working from a witty tongue-in-cheek script by Steve Slavkin, milks the standard premise for maximum campy entertainment. The game cast give it their proverbial all: Pitt and Leitch make for fine adversaries, Schoelen is her usual pretty and appealing self, Martin Mull contributes an amusingly droll portrayal of Paula's bumbling dad William, Brenda James delightfully vamps it up as the luscious Colleen, and Dirk Blocker has a grand jerky time as browbeating ramrod Coach Harris. The nifty murder set pieces -- art teacher stuffed in kiln, vice principal killed by a Xerox machine (!), gym teacher impaled on a flagpole -- all do the trick. Avi Karpick's slick cinematography, Jill Fraser's funky shivery score, the cool'n'catchy 80's rock soundtrack (the fantastic New Wave band Wall of Voodoo have three songs featured herein), and the rousing conclusion are all up to speed. Good, goofy fun.
