As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

I love zombie movies, but this one... it coudn't be possibly worse. It's honestly the worse movie I've ever watched, and (believe me) I've seen a lot of movies from IMDb's "Lowest Rated Movies" list. I wish I could say this "movie" is a waste of time, but it isn't; it makes you sick watching how low can people go. This "movie" disrespects the seventh art in every single way: the plot, the performances, the script... everything! Doghouse is an insult to human intelligence!

A bunch of scruffy sexist pig guys find themselves in a remote isolated town in which an experimental biological weapon has transformed all the women into murderous man-hating monsters. While director Jake West keeps the pace moving at a cracking clip, generates a good deal of tension, delivers a handy helping of graphic gore, and demonstrates a flair for nifty visuals, Dan Schaffer's rather crude and offensive script alas leaves a pretty foul aftertaste due to an unfortunately well pronounced misogynistic bent that comes across as more heartfelt than tongue in cheek. Moreover, the main male characters are an uniformly obnoxious and unappealing pack of macho meathead blokes who are impossible to either like or care about, with Danny Dyer's crass lout Neil rating as the most hateful and repellent of the lot. That said, there are plenty of hilarious lines sprinkled throughout and a few funny gags. In addition, the distaff zombies are a quite funky and colorful bunch who include a morbidly obese hag, an axe-wielding bride, an old biddy hobbling on a walker, a lass who swings a mean sword, and, best of all, Emily Booth as a lethal hairdresser armed with a pair of deadly scissors. However, the abrupt and inconclusive ending simply stinks. Ali Asad's slick widescreen cinematography and the spirited score by Richard Wells are both up to par. A missed opportunity.

Look, when you're going to watch a zombie movie that's not made by Romero or by someone with a lot of money, it's probably not going to be all that great. I didn't know what I was getting into when I watched this but I have to say after the shlock that's been put out in the zombie genre it's simply shocking to see people calling this the worst ever. Frankly, this isn't too far off from Shaun of the Dead. The humor isn't quite there but the acting is (which is more than I can say for about 90% of films in this genre). I was happy to see both Lee Ingleby and the great Steven Graham. Simply put, there's nothing really BAD about this movie. Are the characters reaction to the situation sometimes a bit over the top or even without urgency? sure... but then so was shaun of the dead. There's good camera work and lighting. good acting by those I mentioned as well as several others. The music didn't strike me as wrong in any way. It had a nice pace to it and quite frankly, they put their 4 million dollar budget to good use. Good gore, great location, and good overall production value. When people complain about zombie films it's always... about the acting, the music, the scenery, the gore, the lack of urgency etc... well Doghouse scores pretty well for me on most of those topics. I had some issues with the amount of characters and yes the general idea was a little hokey but I can forgive that since they put out a film which was entertaining. If you want shlock, this isn't for you. If you want big budget zombiepocalypse films... look elsewhere. If you want a decent small budget zombie flick that's more entertaining than scary...then this is probably a good choice. I give Doghouse a 6 out of 10 for showing that even small time zombie movies can be done well if people would just put in the effort. Does it have it's flaws? yes, But i'd much rather watch this than many of the seemingly endless amount of garbage they call "zombie movies" today.

This is suppose to be a zombie comedy but it fails in a lot of levels. It just seemed cheap and not because of the budget but because of the direction of it all including the acting. Yeah this is a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously but even when they are trying to act funny it just seemed so fake and lame. Which can be dismissed but even the humor in this doesn't work. It just seemed like the director just wanted to put a group of guys in a zombie town with a crappy build up, and them just trying to survive in by going about in bunch of goofy approaches. There is hardly any character development, maybe a little as they try to survive in the zombie overrun town but that is about it. So you hardly care about any of the characters if they die or not, and they aren't even all that likable. The zombies aren't even like zombies, they are stupid but they carry weapons and has slight human characteristics to them in another words they are more goofy than scary. Which in this movie just seemed lame and not effective at all. It's good to try something different sometimes, but not in this case. It just seemed the director was just inspired by zombie movies and video games and a bit from Guy Ritchie, but is a amateur since anyone could have directed this. I give it props for it trying to be a good zombie movie but it just fails in many levels like I said. The zombies don't even infect you if they bite you, instead they are like a man hating feminist cannibals with weapons. This isn't a awful zombie flick but wasn't all that good either.6/10
