Absolutely brilliant

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Not sure what the reviewers who rated this a 10 were watching. No substance, nonsensical story line and terrible acting by mid twenty-one things pretending to be teens !!Awful.

Kit Gordy, a student at the exclusive Blackwood Boarding School, confronts the institution's supernatural occurrences and dark powers of its headmistress. Down a Dark Hall is not the worst movie of the year or the worst horror one either but it's also far from being one of the great ones either and actors such as Uma Thurman? deserved way better. But i will admit that in terms of acting? The movie wasn't that bad it's just that the storyline and the script as a whole was half finished and needed way more work in my opinion cause it had it's moments.

First time writing a review. Did not expect it to be a good movie with a good story. Loved it. Screenplay is really good for a horror movie.Giving it 10 for the surprising good movie it turned out to be.

I didn't expect this film to be any good, I hate TWILIGHT and, to be frank, most teen movies. I find them plain and full of dumb characters, and pop songs seem to be enough to try to make the audiences feel interested on the screen. But wow, this film is something. It's elegant, it has class, it builds tension with almost only light and sound. The music is beautiful too, and the young actresses are amazing, especially AnnaSophia Robb, who's never been this good. Uma Thurman is as subtle as a villain as she's powerful too, dangerous and intelligent, a true manipulator. BLACKWOOD made me think, for some reason, in movies like WALKABOUT and in films by Aronofsky. I wish there were more of these movies today that still respect film making and their audiences. I'm not that young anymore, I actually have just been father, but the ending almost made me cry, for a number of reasons. This film shouldn't have been good. But it certainly is.
