Truly Dreadful Film
It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

View MoreThis is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
View MoreThis movie was very bad and boring it is a waste of time of your life if you go and see it actually. I fell asleep when I went to go and see it in the movie theater. As a matter of fact me and my Dad both did it was that terribly bad and horrible there is not even like a plot to the story it sucked so bad. I would question anyone who would go to see it on DVD. Again there is no sense at all to the movie like it is so predictable with in the first three minutes of the movie and like and could be on a infant channel on TV and the babies probably would not even like it! So here I say it again do not waste your time by going to see this stupid boring movie!
View MoreHumanoid aliens living on the planet Baab are accustomed to turning on their news and seeing a pompous astronaut Scorch Supernova(Brendan Fraser)accepting his praise for his daring missions in space. One person not too over-excited with all the hoopla is Gary Supernova(Rob Corddry), Scorch's brother, who chose to be an engineer not an astronaut and is head of mission control. Gary is a bit jealous that his own son Kip(Jonathan Morgan Heit)may be showing most of his admiration to Uncle Scorch. Many explorers have been sent on missions to the "Dark Planet" Earth. When Chief Lena(Jessica Alba)receives an SOS message from earth, against Gary's advice, Scorch the arrogant superhero jumps the gun and heads to the "Dark Planet", from where no one returns.Very solid animation with nice sharp color, but lacking any real intelligence. After all, this is meant for a very young audience that probably does understand the mild rude humor. Other talented stars lend voices in support like: Paul Scheer, Sofia Vergara, George Lopez, William Shatner, Steve Zahn and Ricky Gervais. The youngsters will get more out of this than the grandparents they duped into bringing them.
View MoreI didn't see the trailer for this movie or buy it myself, I got it as a present, and it couldn't have been better! I figure this movie hasn't really been too, too popular because these producer companies are pretty unknown (at least I haven't heard of any of them) and other new movies that have been released recently (The Croods, Monster's University, Despicable Me 2 etc.) have taken the spotlight.I really don't know why the movie is so underrated, the graphics are top class, the plot is original and easy to follow, and every voice is acted out perfectly. It is perfect for kids, but also has some things for adults to get a laugh out of. It has a mix of comedy, and also includes those parts when you think that there's no hope, but then something happens, and the main characters succeed! There's nothing wrong with the movie and if you're kids yawned the whole way through, let them sleep! If you want to, take a look at the 1,2,3,4 star ones, but there's no point in giving yourself a bad impression of this movie. If you just want a nice little family evening on the sofa watching a nice little touch of warm-hearted fiction, you can count on this movie to do a good job. The goodies are good, the baddies are bad, and your day will be perfect.
View More'ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH': Two and a Half Stars (Out of Five) An animated sci-fi adventure film about a popular astronaut hero from another planet who becomes trapped on Earth and has to be rescued by his computer nerd brother. The all-star voice cast includes Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry, Ricky Gervais, William Shatner, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jane Lynch, Craig Robinson, George Lopez, Steve Zahn and Chris Parnell. It's directed by first time feature film director, and former storyboard artist, Carl Brunker and written by Brunker, Bob Barlen, Tony Leech and Cory Edwards. The animation is colorful and fun to look at and the cast is impressive as well but the story and scene content is pretty simplistic. I liked the monster movie sci-fi send-up though.Scorch Supernova (Fraser) is a popular astronaut superhero, of sorts, on his home planet Baab. He's looked up to by many there but his brother, Gary (Corddry), is the brains behind their team and he always guides the dimwitted Scorch through his missions, from the BASA base where they work. Gary never gets any of the credit though and even his own son Kip (Jonathan Morgan Heit) idolizes Scorch. When their boss, Lena (Alba), orders Scorch to travel to the 'Dark Planet' (Earth), in response to an SOS there, Gary knows it's a bad idea (due to the fact that no other alien life form has ever returned from there). He advises Scorch not to go on the mission but Scorch ignores him and the two get in a huge fight when Gary quits. Scorch goes on the mission without his brother's help, for the first time, and is captured and imprisoned at Area 51. It's of course up to Gary to save him.The animation is beautiful to look at and has a lot of character to it, unfortunately the story doesn't. It's about as simplistic and by the numbers as you can get. I like a lot of the actors in this cast (especially Corddry, Gervais and Vergara) but their talents are wasted here. Fraser is perfectly cast as the dimwitted hero, once again, but he's the only star that really adds anything special to his role (which is funny because he's arguably the least talented). Like I said the whole Area 51 monster movie send-up is fun but that's about it. It should please kids but other than some great looking animation and a decent score (including a cool song by Owl City) the film has little else to offer adults.Watch our movie review show 'MOVIE TALK' at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n28SgCY6lwc
