Walter Burns is an irresistibly conniving newspaper publisher desperate to woo back his paper’s star reporter, who also happens to be his estranged wife. She’s threatening to quit and settle down with a new beau, but, as Walter knows, she has a weakness: she can’t resist a juicy scoop.

Great Film overall

I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

They don't make films like this anymore. The chemistry between Grant and Russell is just out of this world amazing, which makes the fast hitting humor feel very natural and realistic.

I watched this film and overall I enjoyed it. I love good, quick, sarcastic banter. This movie has a lot of it. Subtle barbs between characters and under the breath remarks. That's more amusing to me than physical comedy. Rosalind Russell is phenomenal in this film as Hildy. Cary Grant did a good playing the character Walter - Walter himself was pretty unappealing. He was manipulative, inconsiderate and narcissistic. I had a really hard time rooting for them to get back together. I am not even sure if you're supposed to be happy for them? Overall I enjoyed the other story arch happening in the film much more than their reconciliation. The supporting cast is full of enjoyable characters that definitely lend to coloring the settings of the film. For really only having a few different locales/room the movie doesn't seem boring or claustrophobic. It's a very well made movie.

This movie has many different great aspects. Its a funny screwball comedy that many could relate too. As the movie starts the first thing you see that stands out is Hildy in her outfit, all stripes and over the top. The next is the obvious feeling that Walter Burns still holds for Hildy, as he welcomes her to sit on his lap as he says "there's a lamp been burning in the window for you hunny". This becomes the focus of the movie. The futile attempts of Walter makes this movie comical in the way that he tries and his creativity in which he does it, time after time. The movie turns into a whirl wind of mystery and big news stories that are combined artfully with laughs and comical jokes.

I found this film to be a wonderful film. It was an easy movie to watch. There were moments of humor, romance, action, and even some suspense. It had just about everything you could want in a movie. On top of that the female lead was strong-willed and was one of the best parts of the film. This would be a great film to watch if your not accustomed to black and white movies due to the range of genre the film has. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
