A story that's too fascinating to pass by...

Came to film expecting similar content to Key & Peele standup. Jokes were much thinner on the ground. Plot a bit crazy to take too seriously. Romantic interest being a police officer made no sense (-1) but them going to jail anyway was a nice twist (+1).Rewatch from when I first watched it in Denver, Colorado.

After a shoot out, a kitten shows up at the door of Rell (Jordan Peele) who was just dumped by his girl friend. His cousin Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key ) shows up to comfort him. When drug dealers accidentally rob Rell's house, they take Keanu, the kitten. Rell and Clarence who "talk like white guys" pretend to be tough gangsters, putting on a persona. Clarence, now called "Shark Tank" is a corporate team builder who uses that ability and his love for George Michael's music to help bring the gang together as they go on a job to prove themselves in order to get back the cat. They are now selling a drug which is like " (smoking) the crack of God." With kittens being more popular than pop stars on U-Tube it was just a matter of time before they get combined into other genres. This was a cute and clever film which made me smile a lot. Even though Jordan Peele co-wrote the film Keegan-Michael Key stole the scenes.Guide: Plenty of swearing, brief stripper nudity (?)

Review: What a crazy film! This movie is really far fetched, but you can't help laughing at the crazy storyline, which goes from one mad situation to the next. Keegan-Michael Key plays, posh talking Charence, who is left home alone after his wife, Hannah (Nia Long), goes away with there young daughter. His cousin, Rell (Jordan Peele) recently broke up with his girlfriend, so he's depressed and alone until a little kitten turns up at his door. He decides to call the kitten Keanu, and they soon become inseparable. There next door neighbour, Hulka (Will Forte) gets in trouble with a drug kingpin, Cheddar (Method Man), and when he decides to pay him a visit, he goes to the wrong house and ends up taking Rell's beloved kitten. Once Rell works out what has happened to Keanu, he turns to Charence to help him get his kitten back. After convincing Cheddar that they are two ruthless gangsters, Cheddar tells Charence & Rell that he will give there kitten back, if his crew can roll with them for a while, so they agree to his terms and then they head out to cause some trouble. They are really the most unbelievable gangsters that I have ever seen. There clothes, mannerisms, music and terrible street talk, made them the worst candidates to be in there situation. The comedy was a bit silly at times, especially when it came to the George Michael scenes but I couldn't stop laughing throughout. Its obviously based on John Wick, when he went nuts after losing his dog, so I can understand why they called the kitten Keanu as he played the leading role. This is definitely one of those movies that you will watch when you want to get in a good mood, and the only way you are truly able to enjoy this slapstick comedy is if you don't take it seriously. Enjoyable!Round-Up: As I haven't watched the Key & Peele show before, I didn't know anything about these actors, or there tight chemistry on screen. Jordan Peele, who played Rell, wrote this movie alongside Alex Rubens, who also wrote for there hit show. Its the first big budget movie directed by Peter Atencio, so he must be happy that it made a profit at the box office. I liked the fact that he gave it a little twist toward the end, which I didn't see coming, and that he actually chose a convincing actor, Method Man, to play the gangster. On the down side, I can't see it being everyone's cup of tea, mainly because of how silly some of the scenes are but I personally think that it's a great start for this comedy duo, on the big screen.Budget: $15million Worldwide Gross: $20.7millionI recommend this movie to people who are into their action/comedies, starring Keegan- Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Tiffany Haddish, Method Man, Luis Guzman, Will Forte, Nia Long, Rob Huebel and Keanu Reeves. 6/10

I feel I should first confess that before sitting down to watch this movie, I had seen very little of the comedy team of Key and Peele. Though the little I had seen of them showed the duo had charm and amusing humor. And "Keanu" proved to be a good showcase of showing the two's talents. Actually, I didn't laugh out loud too many times while watching the movie (though there ARE some genuine laughs here and there), but the movie's constant amusing tone did leave me with a smile on my lips throughout. And while the movie does definitely earn an "R" rating, director Peter Atencio directs all this adult material in a way that doesn't feel heavy handed or raunchy at all, instead giving it a surprisingly agreeable tone. The movie is to a degree kind of predictable (I early on guessed what the "deus ex machina" twist that happened near the end would be), and there are a few plot points that are kind of unclear (like how the hit men in the opening scene of the movie escaped from the cops). But the movie as a whole is pleasant to watch.Oh, and the kitten is indeed cute.
