Save your money for something good and enjoyable
Good start, but then it gets ruined
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
View MoreRealising that she is a necrophiliac at an early age, a teenager takes a job at a local mortuary and satisfies herself with the corpses, but things get complicated when a young man (who is alive) romances her in this unusual Canadian drama. While the way she pleasures herself with the cadavers feels very mild (especially compared to something like 'Nekromantik'), there much to like in how sympathetic a perspective the film manages to offer on a person with unusual deep desires, with some philosophical voice-over narration at the start of the film helping in particular to get under her skin. The way the narration keeps surfacing every now and again during the remainder of the film is at times a little jarring, but again it really helps one get inside the girl's mindset and Molly Parker is fantastic in the role. Peter Outerbridge is less impressive as her needy boyfriend. He has an unforgettable final scene that truly captures his devotion to her and extreme desire to understand her, however, at times he only seems to exist in the narrative as an outlet (i.e. someone to whom Parker can confess everything that she does). More scenes dedicated to Parker's childhood may have helped us understand her more too, but clocking in at a very economical 78 minutes as it though, the film certainly never outstays its welcome - which is quite important here given the social taboo subject matter.
View MoreKissed is one of those very rare movies that you have to experience, just once. Molly Parker is unique, not just in her look, but beauty too, while just bowling me over with such a remarkable if beautiful performance, again I will say unique performance, cause that's what it is too, while Outerbidge was almost equally great too, as the kind of loser, average looking guy, depressive with suicidal tendencies, kind of bringing shades from God's Lonely Man. He shows an insatiable curiosity in his new love interest. It was Parker who really had me, and who'll you remember as if a tainted memory, years after viewing this extraordinary film. Parker is not your average young girl, and we see that in her preteen years, while accidentally squashing a bird. Cut to years later, now a young woman, she has become an avid necrophiliac, hence wanting to get a job, embalming the dead, so she can secretly have sex/intercourse with the corpses, a few adult theme moments. This heavily brought to mind, if identically, The Neon Demon scene with Jena Malone. Outerbridge, is incredibly accepting to a point, trying to get around her new girlfriend's fetish, where a streak of real jealousy from him, pushes him on the brink. Kissed is a beautifully written, and must see film, with two great performances, by actors of high calibre. It's an appropriately short, the less is more approach, wonderfully suiting. A short, engrossing movie ride, that we really don't want to get off. It's a masterpiece of film making, you don't dare wanna touch. This was one, of many originally Indie films of 97, where sadly this one too, getting nowhere near the recognition or attention it deserves. What a bloody pity.
View MoreThis movie is by far the most beautiful movie I have ever seen to date. If you like dark or Gothic movies, this is for you! The acting and story line is brilliant. I thought about this movie for weeks after I watched It. I like things like Six Feet Under, and morgue movies & TV shows. This film was excellent. How someone can be so fixated on one thing, makes it so beautiful. I might be sick to enjoy it by reading what the other persons comment said but it's not sick. These things do happen and this storyline is really interesting. Okay so you may not want see or hear about sleeping with corpses but if you look past that, you'll see the real beauty of the movie.I recommend this movie. You will not be disappointed!
View MoreTO me, the most ridiculous, pretentious, dull, slow-moving, sickening piece of junk pseudo-art in a long time. The directors/producer/ artwork/writer/and many other self centered tasks in HER film ( did I forget gaffer/ sound/ lightman/ catering/executive prod./ costumes/ make up/etc/etc/etc/ ad nauseum as well? ) connivance has catapulted her into the top ten worst writers with the worst film idea since I don't know when, probably forever....what a sick mind to present necrophilia anyway....does it turn her on ?........it is to me just a pinch away from snuff porn. ....oh and one more thing! Near the end when the guy dies immediately after kicking the stool away to hang himself ?......sorry director, doesn't happen that way or that fast takes quite a long time to die that way, or didn't you know that ?......do some research next time...... Sorry folks...it's my opinion.
