As the heir and current marketing director for one of the nation's biggest gun manufacturers, Liberty Wallace is indifferent to the atrocities made possible through her business and her CEO husband, Victor. On her way to see her actor lover, Liberty ends up chained to a food cart full of explosives -- all at the insistence of "Joe", a sniper whose young daughter was a victim of gun violence, and who now has Liberty in his sights.

Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.

StunnaKrypto

Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Linda Fiorentino (Liberty Wallace) an international arms dealer who sells to anyone...no questions asked. While out to meet her lover, she receives a phone-call; the sniper (Welsey Snipes) who she is talking to has her in his sights, and if she fails to do as she told, she will die; and if her phone goes dead she will detonate a bomb that will destroy a city block. The idea is good, and a strong sense of tension is built up by the performances of Fiorentino and Snipes, but after a clever and intriguing build up the film does eventually fall flat. By the end you may feel that the film makers missed a good opportunity to both make a statement and make a cracking film.6/10 If you like the concept - try phonebooth, it is better executed.

I saw Liberty Stands Still knowing what it was about and wanted to give it a chance. Thank God it was on cable and I did not rent it. Such a waste of talent. If you want to see a film that deals with gun violence, see the last film James Coburn ever made (American Gun, 2002). That film had class, appeal, and NO SENSELESS VIOLENCE gun play like Skoagland's mistake. What's sad is that people are so close-minded anymore that they believe blatant diatribe posing as art can be taken seriously. My guess is that most posters who liked this film are young, idealistic wet-behind-the-ears types. And NO, I did not want an "action film" for all of you apologists for Liberty Stands Still. The movie S-U-C-K-E-D.

I can't believe this garbage was even given the green light.Same Liberal nonsense that seems to be prevalent: Angry Black Man gets angry ,goes on a rampage and commits atrocities, all White people are responsible for evil, etc.I'd like to see Snipe's character go after the goons that used the handgun that killed his daughter. No, the gun just leaped into the killer's hands and society/white racism/society made him kill. This goes to show that liberals are the most racist of all, they can only picture black men as oppressed and thereby justified for any rampage or criminal acts as payback.I can't believe white people allow themselves to be run over and I'm not even white !Witness the remake of "Manchurian Candidate" where the original movie has been through the politically correct steam roller with the Red Chinese/North Korean villains replaced by white men.Too bad few reviewers have the spine to point this out.Unbowed

the suspense generated by this movie lies solely in viewers contemplation as to when they will turn it off... when i think about the number of people associated with the development of this project, and the fact that not one of them stood up and demanded in no uncertain terms a rewrite, it makes my head and stomach hurt... without a doubt, this movie has value... in terms of revealing everything that can go wrong... this is not meant as a joke... from the story to the editing, to ninety five percent of the acting... placing an actor in slow motion does not make them appear better than they are... was this stylistic?... i can only imagine that someone thought, strike that, many people thought they were making a movie that meant something... unfortunately, the effort trivializes and even comes across as parody... the central dramatic question posed... how will liberty get herself out of this one? doesn't need to be answered... because the film makers had no clue... and so her sniper simply let's her go?... for a film that was intended to make people angry about unscrupulous arms dealings, second amendment proliferated and protected violence, etc... all it does is make one angry about the time they lost from their lives watching this... ugh...
