It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Renaissance is not your typical animation. A simple black and white like Sin City with specific bright colors for a specific item. A combination of The Matrix animation + Sin City + A Scanner Darkly makes the film interesting. Excellent dark and bloody plot too.According to Wikipedia, the producers used motion capture and computer graphics to create the film's unique look. The cast performed their scenes in motion-capture suits in front of a blue screen. Computer animators translated these animations to digital models used for the characters. The animated characters were placed in three-dimensional computer backdrops, with post-process effects added to achieve the film's final look.French automaker Citroën designed a car specially for the film, imagining what a Citroën might look like in 2054.The film cost 14 million € to make over six years. It was funded by Disney with 3 million USD provided from Miramax. The year is 2054, Ilona Tasuiev (Viriginie Mery/Romola Garai), a young female scientist who worked for a megalomaniac corporation called Avalon was kidnapped. Thus, Avalon corporation puts pressure on Barthélémy Karas (Patrick Floersheim/Daniel Craig)- a policeman who specialized in abductions, to find her alive as soon as possible.Karas is a moody and violent police specializing in kidnapping cases shows a boundless selflessness and also to the extend of which he sometimes breaking the police code. The key to his obsession with finding missing people lies mysterious somewhere in his past. And he is the only person who is in charge of finding Ilona's whereabouts. However, the mission gets more dangerous and important when other people tries to get to her first.Ilona is an intelligent young woman is involved in a conspiracy where she has found the secret to immortality.Karas recalls a conversation with Dr. Jonas Muller (Marc Cassot/Ian Holm) and Dr. Nakata (Robert Watson Barr) on the mistake they made when he found how the disappearance of the young children is somehow related to the secret project for immortality known as "The Renaissance Protocol".

Renaissance is a black-and-white animated science fiction film that features a rare visual style in which almost all images are exclusively black and white, with only occasional color used for detail. It centers on a policeman investigating the kidnapping of a scientist who holds the key to eternal life in a futuristic Paris. It has an English cast led by Daniel Craig together with Catherine McCormack,Romola Garai and Jonathan Pryce; and a French cast that includes Patrick Floersheim,Laura Blanc,Virginie Mery and Gabriel Le Doze.It mixes Blade Runner aesthetics with stark, Sin City-style visuals, Renaissance was filmed using motion- capture animation and features extravagant production design by Alfred Frazzani. French director Christian Volckman was at helm for this film.In the labyrinthine streets of 21st century Paris, where every move is monitored and ever action recorded, a mysterious kidnapping sets into motion a catastrophic series of events that could ultimately prove the downfall of civilization. The year is 2054, and the Avalon Corporation has securely woven its way into every aspect of modern living by making youth and beauty the most valued commodity around. Troubles arise in the City of Lights when a high-profile scientist named Ilona is kidnapped, and policeman Barthélémy Karas is assigned the task of solving the case. As his investigation leads Karas down a menacing path where death lurks around every bend, he soon discovers that events that took place in 2006 have cast a dark shadow over the future of humankind. The film attempts to blend sci-fi wonder with stark noir animation, but is often more fun to look at than to watch. It's a testament to the production design that one quickly gets caught up in the story without ever completely losing the "ooh-ahh" factor. Ominous, wall-to-wall music bolsters the appropriately uneasy mood, and the bittersweet conclusion is satisfying. The picture is visually stark and isolated compositions, spiked with high contrast menace, are impressive in their artistic detail. However, the perfunctory plot is rather average .It is a fusion of crime clichés and dystopian futurism, if not exactly original, is nonetheless vigorously engaging.

If you're a sucker for black-and-white animation, film noir and science-fiction in one package, have a look at this visually arresting pic.The images are a marvel to behold, which cannot be said about the either too lacklustre or too campy English voice-over work by some well-known actors. The story's another matter: The characters are stereotypes which isn't too bad as the plot proves to be an eclectic mixture of detective movie and sci-fi pulp clichés, told in a fast-paced manner, along with some existential pretensions. But the sheer beauty of it all is a good enough reason to embrace this pic.6 out of 10 old children

Blade Runner (Deckard is a Replicant!), City of Lost Children (augmented senses or whatever used and abused and mostly, well, just giving us far less than what we might dream of), andDark City: These really ought to be added. For a while now, I've been waiting for an animated film that might affect me as much as Miyazaki's stuff has. This one is the 1st.Hmm, scratch the "animated" part of that.I have an intense love-hate relationship with film noir and, hey, if you don't leave, it must be mostly love, right? But, there are so many sci-fi and noir themes totally submerged in this film that it's just a wonder to watch. These people did an incredible job!
