The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
View MoreVery good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
View MoreA clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
View MoreAs one reviewer mentioned you can't really write anything about this movie that would be a spoiler. There is NOTHING in this movie that you don't see coming from a mile away. Well except for that by the end it never actually forms a cohesive story or gets any better. SPOILER!The opening scene was a foreshadowing of the movie's extremely flawed logic and believability. Our protagonist Rose arrives at her fathers house where the police are investigating the circumstances of his death. He's just been found dead at the bottom of the stairs to the basement. The detective not only lets her into the house but also asks the police to give her a moment alone with her father's corpse on the basement floor (you know standard police procedure). It's been laying there for some time and has begun to decompose and she places her hand on his forehead while sobbing uncontrollably. This is MEANT to be an emotional scene, a daughter grieving for the loss of her father, and not WTF creepy. Seriously! From there is just does a logarithmic downward slide into dumb. The entire movie is a series of stale and tired horror clichés. Anything that could be "thrilling" is broadcast from miles away so NOTHING is surprising when it happens. The nursery rhyme thing is embarrassingly cliché and makes the killer's even dumber and less convincing. While the movie gives you some history about the protagonist explaining why she should exist in the context of the story it never develops the paperman's character. Is he just a psychopath? is he some sort of supernatural evil being? Why hasn't anyone complained to the newspaper that their deliveryman is a monster who scares the hell out of them? He breaks into a women's house, assaults a District Attorney, and the police do nothing, why? Speaking of which what the hell happened to the DA at the end of the movie? His disappearance and a threatening call to the main character's show (a nursery rhyme...ughh) was the setup for the final conflict but then they just completely forget about his character and never explain what happened to him. The movie ends at the paperman's funeral but WHO THE F%#K ARE THESE PEOPLE AT HIS FUNERAL!?!?! Who the hell would have even paid for it?!?! Nothing anyone does in the final scenes of the movie make ANY logical sense. The climax is laughably stupid. It's one of the worst and least satisfying endings I've ever seen. If you still feel compelled to watch because you want to know what is this disastrous ending we reviewers are talking about then here's what you do: Watch the first 15 minutes then fast forward to about the 1hr 1min mark. Enjoy! All you need to know is that at some point in the movie the DA tells Rose a story about his childhood in which some bullies buried him in a hole with just a snorkel for air (yeah I know that means he couldn't have been buried much more then 1.5 feet and should have easily been able to escape but whatever..) and he wasn't found for a long time. Also that's not her dog (where did it come from? doesn't matter!). There is no point at all to watching anything in between. You're welcome!
View MoreI think some reviewers have been unfair to this movie. Sure, it's a little derivative of other work but what horror movie isn't? Yes, some of the acting was a little wooden but there was enough suspense and jumps to keep most people happy, I'd have thought. The reaction of the police to Derek's live call to the radio station was just pathetic. Also I got the feeling that there was more of the story to come out. Who were Derek and his "siblings" and why were they all psychos? Where *was* Barrett's body? A victim of the film editors maybe? But what really spoilt it for me was the very last minute. Such a lame ending!
View MoreRosewood Lane is what would happen if you combined Frasier with Fear, and is the latest from Jeepers Creepers Director, Victor Salva. I wanted to like this film and I wish I could tell you that's different from all the other stalking films out there, but it's really not. The only things I found interesting about this film were the tremendous performance by Charmed's Rose McGowan, and it's unique ended, that really threw me for a loop. Normally when a film has an ending that surprises me, I love it, it makes the whole film for me, and while the curve at the end of Rosewood Lane was interesting, it wasn't enough to make up for a slow moving film that resembled half a dozen other movies. The story follows Radio Psychiatrist, Dr. Sonny Blake, and her move back into the old house she grew up in. The house holds many personal demons for her, so when she claims that someone is stalking her, the people close to her find it difficult to believe. As I said earlier, Rose McGowan was terrific and was really the only person of note in this film. It's a story you want to like, but things progress so slowly and are just so dull, that when the surprise ending happens, you're reaction is that it's kind of cool, but it doesn't make up for the predictability of the rest of this film. Stalker films are supposed to be the scariest form of Horror films, because it's a real thing that happens every day, unfortunately, Rosewood Lane doesn't have the writing or the performances to pull it off. It's a decent film with a terrific ending, but instead of leaving you unnerved, it leaves you indifferent.
View MoreReveiwing a movie is open to our own personal opinion and everyone is entitled to there own opinion. For me I read all reviews posted here and although I enjoyed this movie I do agreed with some of the negative reviews that states that it was slow moving and a bit lacking on thrills. That alone however doesn't mean it was a bad movie or as some state "aweful waste of time." Now to add to there points they start reviewing the size of an actors lips, or the age of another who supposed to be a kid or even criticize product placement in the first have. I think that when you have to find such small items to pick on then in fact the movie wasn't all that bad. Other negative reviews write sentences with single words longer than my complete name put together. But if you read exacting what they are writing and yes with the help of a dictionary you soon realize that some just use big words to give themselves a certain look because at the end of there conclusion all those big words just basically mean nothing, just like a politicians reply to a question he doesn't want to really answer honestly.I'm not saying this was a great movie but I am saying that I enjoyed it. I did not get that "hey I was robbed "feeling once it was over. Sure It had some unanswered issues but nothing major. They could have done certain things differently yes but they didn't. What I watched is what they did and I must be honest on what I saw. Good . Good movie. One thing though is that they call it a horror film and that is where maybe some of the bad reviews are coming from. Disappointed horror film fans. This is not a horror film but I would say more of a mild thriller. If I was in the mood for a good horror film and saw this I would have been disappointed too.
