The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

This movie is a guilty pleasure. I give it 4 stars within its genre (teen, fantasy, TV movie). It's about a teen girl who never knew her mother, and after her father dies suddenly, she is thrust back into her mother's life. Her mother lives on an island, and there are strange things going on, bizarre divisions among the island folk. She begins to realize her father kept her from this world, and from her mother, because of the dangers that lurk from certain people, and maybe even from herself. There are mystifying things (beings?), beneath the ocean waves, but are they friend or foe? I don't want to give too much away. I will say that I have never read the book this is based on, but I liked it well enough that I might now. Also, everyone's main complaint (mine too) is that the ending is left open ended, so that a sequel can be made. I think this needs to be made into a TV series. There are so many great characters in this movie, that a TV series could run on for many seasons. I hope they listen to their fans, and create more! If you like teen fantasy/horror, then you'll probably like this.

I read online this movie is a pilot which means there may me many more shows if there is interest. I thought it was a fantastic movie and would love to see more!! Can't wait to see where their relationship goes. If she has magical powers and what role her mother plays.great love triangle as well.

This was a truly good Lifetime movie. The cast was perfect and they had great chemistry in telling the story. However the story was left with too many questions and didn't answer the overall question or fill in the blanks and gaps. It was like false advertising. There is too much speculation for the viewer to fill in which makes me think either the book was written this way or the person who wrote the screenplay cut corners. When I looked at the synopsis of the book, it was her grandmother who passed away so I am wondering if her father actually died in the book as he did in the movie which indicated he was a seawalker which would make Maranda half seawalker. Unless the author writes another book to fill in the blanks and continue the story, I could see this as a short limited series on the CW or Freeform channel unless Lifetime decided to create another movie based off a new screenplay to explain and continue the story. Is Maranda half seawalker, did her g=father die because he was no longer swimming, why did her Mom try to kill her when she was an infant, how does the town explain the disappearance of several people, do they ever return, can Maranda be the key to save them and etc. Too many questions left to ponder...

***This review may contain spoilers***This was soooo good and had me so engaged the entire time.... Up until the very last 5 minutes... I'm sitting here so into this movie and noticing the time and that it's coming to an end but there was still a lot I was waiting for... No closure at all. Totally left me hanging. This would be really good as a TV show and I hope they do something with it.. Reminds me of a show that would be on the CW. I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep tonight not knowing what happens with Miranda and Leo!!
