This Movie Can Only Be Described With One Word.
A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
View MoreAn old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
View MoreFrom the moment Nicolas Cage attempted to act like a tough, yet caring, inner city teacher I knew this movie was unrealistic, and it only gets more and more fantastical from there. Seeking Justice suffers from the weight of being entirely unbelievable, and not in the good way. If the movie had unexpectedly transported the characters to a magic fairy land, this movie would have been more believeable (and interesting.) In Seeking Justice, the hungry rabbit jumps deep down into a rabbit hole that it can never escape.Nicolas Cage is just plain bad in this movie. To be fair to Cage, he was cast in a horrible role that doesn't fit his limited range as an actor. January Jones is given a very one-sided character who doesn't have much to do, so it's hard to evaluate her performance. Guy Pierce is decent as the bad guy, but it's such a cookie cutter role it's hard to enjoy this waste of his talent. I did enjoy Harold Perrineau (of Lost fame) in his supporting role as best friend Jimmy, but it's not a saving grace. There are other problems with Seeking Justice besides its unrealistic plot, bad characters, and bad acting, such as the constant bombardment of overly dramatic music, use of predictable movie tropes, and clunky prose that tries to sound like clever foreshadowing, but is really just banal. If you enjoy watching B movies to laugh at them, then I recommend Seeking Justice, otherwise don't waste your time.
View MoreThis movie surprised me, since many people claim that Cage only has "bad" films. This one is actually quite good. In fact, I was about to give it an 8, but due a few bad actors I couldn't.I think Cage acted good in this film. The story is easy to follow, so no brain cracking mysteries that make you think by the end of the film "what the hell happened." I really can't stand complex endings. In easy words, it's an enjoyable thriller about a guy who's wife gets raped. In the hospital, this strange guy in a suit does this proposal to kill the rapist for him. As he agrees with doubts, it soon turns out he needs to kill other people for him to repay this civic organization who "seek justice". Of course, he doesn't want to kill people and asks the same guy to get out of his life. If only it was that simple...
View More(34%) A very by the numbers, far from great, and rather quite silly offering featuring poor old Nic Cage paying off his tax bill, that really does beg the question: just how crippling was it in the first place? This though is just about entertaining enough for a simple, late-night watch; but there just isn't anything up this movie's sleeve to make it a memorable or worthy a repeat watch. With its very B-movieish plot that really lacks both spark and any sort of intelligence, along with a real lack of tension or any trace of believability. This is a better watch than 2011's terrible Trespass, but Nic still deserves better than this.
View MoreThere's something satisfying about watching a vigilante thriller . It's not necessarily a good film but one of my favourite films of my teenage years was THE EXTERMINATOR Vietnam vet John Eastland best buddy from the war is crippled by some scumbags and Eastland embarks on a crusade against human vermin who he tortures , mutilates and kills . , Very enjoyable stuff that appeals to the frustrated nature of humanity . One problem is there's only a limited number of ways to skin a cat and it's the same when it comes to gangsters , paedos and muggers . You can kneecap them , stick them in to a mincing machine and burn them alive , but there's only a self limiting structure to vigilante movies . There's an inciting incident that turns Joe Average in to public avenger and he bumps off some creeps . The end . To be fair JUSTICE does try to bring a new twist to a formula that has been done many times before but isn't as successful as it tries to be Nicolas Cage plays Will Gerard a man whose wife is raped and right away there might be a few warning bells ringing . Cage isn't really an outstandingly awful actor but he is an extremely prolific one starring in one mediocre film after another that you'll have forgotten about by the time you've left the multiplex and JUSTICE follows Cage's career arc . While Gerard's wife lies in an intensive care unit a stranger called Simon introduces himself to Gerard telling him he represents a vigilante group and if he wants he'll liquidate the rapist in question . That's very nice of him but being a film everyone outside this scenario knows fine well that no good turn goes unpunished and it turns out Simon's vigilante group want Gerard to repay the favour by bumping off someone they claim is a child pornographer . Of course it'd be too simple if he was a depraved sexual deviant so there's more to it than that but regardless of the group's agenda why do they need to involve Gerard ? Why didn't one of the group members carry out the killing ? No matter how you approach it you can't ignore the totally illogical nature of the plotting . Of course there's an element of if someone did something sensible same as they would in the real world then we wouldn't have a movie but always aware with JUSTICE that you're watching a movie rather than being involved in a story that could be happening out in the real world . There is perhaps an element that this is a vaguely liberal antidote to the vigilante films that are vaguely right wing but doesn't do anything in a convincing manner and despite being moderately entertaining you'll remember very little about it apart from the plot holes
