Excellent, Without a doubt!!
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
View MoreThe thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
View MoreThis movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
View MoreA fan of the first Rec flicks,I was disappointed to find the franchise go completely off the rails for the final two in the series. Greatly enjoying the non-Rec Fragiles,I was surprised to find the BBC showing one of director Jaume Balagueró;s non-Rec titles,which led to me getting into bed.The plot: Left on his own in an apartment block, concierge César passes the time by slyly tormenting all the tenants. Welcoming beautiful new tenant Clara in, César soon starts playing mind games with her. Finding Clara to just brush off any attempt he makes to get under her skin, César decides to take things to the next level.View on the film:Slithering round the building, Luis Tosar gives an excellent,creepy performance as César, who is given a skin-crawling, covered in slime seediness by Tosar,which makes everything César says be something that can't be taken at face value. Innocently laying in her bed, sexy Marta Etura gives a very good performance as Clara, whose sunny side up attitude is gradually dimmed in doubt by Etura.Leaving the shock & awe of the Recs,director Jaume Balagueró & Rec actor/cinematographer Pablo Rosso go for a slow-burn,sinister atmosphere,as the apartment block is given a blank surface appearance. Sneaking César into Clara's life, Balagueró builds up the anxiety with stylish two-shots,where the viewer can see César,but Clara can't. Holding back from Psycho-Thriller shocks, the screenplay by Alberto Marini finds horror in the mundane,where everything appears normal, but Marini has César subtly chip away at Clara in the background. Whilst the ending unlocks a macabre apartment, it also sadly highlights the large plot holes (such as no CCTV or Clara feeling any different) jumped over for it to be delivered,as Clara sleeps tightly next to César.
View MoreThis movie actually reminds me a bit of a short movie a friend of mine made. It's called "Martha", a Belgian movie. Well at least it has some similarities. But Mientras Duermes (or Sleep Tight) is certainly a must see if you like psychological thrillers. There are a couple scenes where you can literally feel the tension. Luis Tosar plays his role as the mentally disturbed Cesar beautifully. It's an interesting story in the mind of a psychopath. There are not really gory scenes or so but the tension and suspense make this movie a little bit of a horror movie. Just for the story alone, if you imagine that there are disturbed people like that in this world. Cesar could be anyone, it could be someone you know, and that makes it frightening. I really enjoyed this movie from the first second till the last. It's a movie I'm keeping and that I will watch again in the future.
View MoreYou wake day after day to the comfort and security of your home. But how safe is it really? Mientras duermes or also known as Sleep Tight is one of the creepiest and best films about stalking it's very well made full of tension and another great performance by Luis Tosar (Cell 211) it's also a film that actually makes sense most of the time unlike other horror movies with the exact same plot that get a bit goofy now it does have some issues tho for example the ending wasn't as effective as i hoped it was going to be, certain moments kinda felt a bit dumb and nobody understood who was doing all this things inside a big apartment there was also this girl that at times kinda felt out of place and could easily expose his dirty secrets, other than that a great performance by Tosar and Marta Etura as Clara but also a very well made movie (8/10)
View MoreCesar,truly twisted character.Scared the little girl,as I guess he didn't want competition in the years to come.She was a horrid little creature and more than capable of developing into a problem.Still think the directors could of backed Cesar into a corner a bit more by using the girl character to inflict more damage onto his already unbalanced mind.Would of been nice to see him pushed a bit more.Unlike most,I believe the end letter received by Clara did not actually uncover anything.No name on letter? So doesn't imply its from Cesar.Who knows whats in the diary? As it seems hes continuing his mission,nothing can be brought upon him.Actually a quite enjoyable watch.No twists and turns with a storyline you lose interest in because its hard to follow,no,this film is easy to follow,its just about an absolute nutter with general good manners but with twisted aspirations to make everybody else unhappy! Enjoy!
