Though Kevin has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher, there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him — as well as everyone around him — as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

This film is weird. People may say oh he played it well etc but for me it was too freaky and it doesn't pay off. Not worth the time.

I've seen it maybe 10 times now. I love the suspense, the acting of McAvoy, and the Unbreakable reference. I don't get it that people don't love this movie. It's fantastic.

Slight spoilers for those of you who haven't figured out the twist yet, even if it's pretty obvious. I'm gonna try and keep this short and sweet : this movie isn't a mess, but isn't flawless neither. The acting of our two leads (James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy) is pretty solid but the side characters (especially the Psychiatrists) could use some polish. The script is interesting and well crafted, but sometimes feels a bit convoluted and strange and strange for some. Some of the scenes in this movie ask the viewer to suspend their disbelief and accept the some-what strange interaction between the characters. " Why couldn't they hear the scuffle behind the car?" "Why did it take that long for McAvoy to notice Taylor-Joy in the car?" "Why isn't she fighting back?" "Why is that train empty?" those aren't the question the viewers should be asking, it's not the point. This isn't supposed to be a realistic portrayal of abduction nor an analytical piece on people with mental illness. This is a movie about two people finding strength in trauma, one of them in a perverse and unhealthy way.Again, this movie is about trauma, not mental illness. Lastly, the camera work was a bit shabby at first (the first scene seemed to me like a slightly better version of the train scene in unbreakable, shaky and poor), but stabilized as the movie went along and ended up really good by the end. I especially liked the transitions between the present and the flashbacks They never get in the way and enhance the dramatic tension.Overall good movie. I wasn't a fan of the BIG twist at the end and the third act seemed a bit rushed, but still a good watch.

Horror movies are not really my kind of movies, but this one I liked. Perhaps that is there is a lot more emphasis on the thriller part of the movie than the horror part. And the horror part is much more the psychological kind of horror than blood, gore, violence and shocking moments (though there are a few exceptions that are quite bloody I should mention)A man with split personalities abduct three teenage girls and lock them in his basement. There is always a very tense and heavy atmosphere, and honestly quite sickening atmosphere, both in the basement and thus in the movie. A few of the personalities are hostile to the girls, a few a symphatetic. The friendly ones warn of the last personality, The Beast. There is always a promise of something bad happening hanging in the air, but what? Violent? Sexual? It is not pronounced and adds to the uneasy tense emotions. In that aspect, ut really is a horror movie.Shyamalan has returned here with a really good script, acted out very well of the small cast. A special mention must go to McAvoy for his portrayal of the abductor. Fantastic. For all the Shyamalan fans out there, this is highly recommended, although you might not find the usual twist you expect...7 out of 10
