Dreadfully Boring
I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
View MoreTrue to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
View MoreGreat movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
View MoreI would agree with several of the other messages for this film.Throughout the movie, you might find yourself confused or searching for answers but trust me just sit back and enjoy the ride the end makes this movie sing. So often directors leave movies too open or end them to quick making me feel that I've wasted what could have been 2 epic hours of my life but 6 years after watching this movie I am still excited and still have discussions about possibilities and meanings. I can't promise you that you will love this movie but you should be intrigued. Hope you enjoy!
View MoreI would just like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It scared me the whole time and even had me laughing while in fear at the same time... awesome! The "ride" down the East Wing where viewing some of the oddities/horrors of medicine and some of his own insecurities from his subconscious reminded me of the "ride" through the park "highway to hell" scene in the Machinist with Christian Bale. Of course Jacob's Ladder was the earliest film I can recall using this kind of imagery. This film was not however just like Jacob's Ladder which is about someone who finds redemption before his death. This is more about someone being "brain dead" and what that could mean... It could mean you are trapped in your own private hell created by subconscious. This hell could be created by the brains ability to still draw from the outside world if this is possible in someone who is considered brain dead would they want to be free... which means to die or continue living on in this state. That's the question it raises.
View MoreI watched this after reading the comments. This film is way better than the average given. It's rare that IMDb is not able to give a correct rating of a film, I think, but this is very much the case here. Well, you can see the voters equally scattered all over the scale, but this tells that this is a movie being difficult for some to get.The movie is well played by the whole ensemble. And to many this is a quite perfect film. Others will never grasp the ideas of it. At least I got a lot of thoughts, and I think I would have done the film differently, but still it was well made. To me the movie tell several stories. Important ones. Do you know your fear, and what will you do to avoid it? Do you know happiness, and can you see it? Is a vegetative state what we think it is? Do we know when to pull the plug on a vegetative person? What is consciousness, and can you control it?And there's more. You might find your own thoughts into this. This movie is deep, slow, scary, and might also be depressing and of course tragic.Anyway, I'd like to see more after the end. I'd like the family to find some kind of peace, or wondering about the end. That would've made the film even better.
View MoreWhen I read the plot before watching Sublime I was wondering how it could possibly make up a horror film. It did not have the ingredients needed, and I must say that when I started watching my confusion grew only stronger. What is this? Nevertheless, although the movie starts off slowly a nice soundtrack keeps it from ever getting boring. The environment is eerie and many scenes have a dreamlike setup. There is one scene that I liked in particular when the nurse takes our patient on his first journey to the closed wing of the hospital. The ambiance is unbeatable and the camera-work is just perfect - all accompanied by this creepy drum-beat.On the downside you notice this is a low budget film mostly on the sound quality of the dialog. The microphones are probably camera-mounted which makes it difficult to hear what they say at times, particularly when the actors are not directly facing the camera.Picture quality is decent, although quite noisy.I recommend Sublime to anyone who likes atypical horror. When you watch it, try to figure out what it is all about - it will make things a lot more interesting. If you have not figured it out halfway through - don't worry, you will towards the end :)
