It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
View MoreThis movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
View MoreThe film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
View MoreRarely do I watch a movie that makes me laugh, cry (three times), smile, as well as makes my heart race in anticipation over the course of two hours. "The Book of Henry" stuck with me a long time after the credits rolled. The story flows beautifully, the acting is superb, you feel the love, the heartbreak, and the nervousness throughout the film. We need more movies out there like this that make us FEEL. Isn't that why we watch movies? To feel something, be entertained, and escape from our world for a short time. I was totally engrossed from start to finish. The core message is one that stays with you for a long time, good triumphs over evil, and there is hope in the world. I would highly, highly recommend seeing this film. You will not regret it if you give a chance and let yourself take in the feelings!
View MoreI wanted to watch this film just because iam a huge fan of jake Tremblay and Naomi watts after seeing them in great films like Room .Shut in and others.i knew i was in for a treat with a great cast but i was amazed how original the plot was and how well directed this piece of work is . i loved how this film has abit of all the genres crossed together to create a compelling story that will stay with you for a long time . i hate to give anything away but this film is way better than you may think and will keep you very entertained yet breathless and touched by every single detail.
View MoreNaomi Watts is a suburb actress and she delivers a good performance in this film as well. The story is carried, however, by Jaeden Lieberher who, as an extremely intelligent child, tries, but fails, while he is alive, to put away a next door neighbor who abuses his stepdaughter. Unfortunately, it takes his death for an effort to take place to put an end to this abuse. An interesting story well worth your time.
View MoreI think most of the bad reviews I have seen are judging the fact that the story is messed up and at times doesn't make a lot of sense. But they're just completely ignoring the fact that this is fiction, it is supposed to entertain, not be "nice" or completely accurate. The camera work, soundtrack, acting, plot twists, the way they tell the story, I thought that was all really well done. Was the actual story weird, well yea it was, it was nothing like I expected, but again, this is fiction people. This was never supposed to be a "family movie" or a film with an inspiring message, it was supposed to entertain and I think it did that very well for me.
