A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
A Disappointing Continuation
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
View MoreIt is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
View MoreRemember how the first Crow movie had subtle native American undertones? Well what would happen if someone decided to make them overtones? The nicest thing I can say about this movie is that it's not 'City of Angels', other then that it fails across the board: Terrible writing, terrible pacing, terrible music and one of those irritating editing jobs with lots of random quick cuts, slow-motion, fast motion, and zoom ins during supposedly important scenes. On top of that crow mythos in this movie is horribly convoluted with Native American mythology dominating but just enough Judeo-Christian stuff to make the audiences tilt their heads trying to figure it all out. But the worst aspect of this moronic movie is its cast: This movie has the best b-grade cast money could buy and yet they're all waisted. Danny Trejo is completely wasted as a priest of some made-up native American tribe, David Boreanaz has two settings in this movie; I-don't-care-so-I'm-not-going-to-act which is when he's playing the main villain as a human and I-don't-care-so-I'm-going-to-ham-it-up which is when he's playing the devil. Tara Reid of Shaknado fame is also in this movie and not surprisingly she's also wasted. Like I said, the best shlock cast money could buy. The worst sin however is the Crow himself, he's acted by some nobody named Edward Furlong who is dreadful as The Crow, lacking any of the pathos or menace and just coming off as pouty. But as he's barely in the movie it's not too painful. Like I said the kindest thing I can say about this movie is it's not as bad as 'City of Angels', take that as a warning and stay away.
View MoreIf I told you this was a low budget, straight to obscure cable channel, knock off of a crow film you would probably believe me. If you told me it was a genuine "Crow" film I would laugh and call you a liar...and you would be right and I would be wrong and that just is insane. Why did they even bother? They have some famous names here that apparently were paid just enough for them to actually turn up and "phone in" a performance. I've seen nativity plays with better performances.Edward Furlong as the crow? His "angry" face and lines through gritted teeth were unconvincing, absolutely no fear or sense that this guy was about to kick ass was purveyed. I couldn't believe how bland and whiny his crow was. He was the wrong choice, his stature, boyish looks, and poor acting skills made him look like an annoyed teenager pestering people. With the cast this had and the performances I've seen them give elsewhere this was just shameful. Maybe they had a bad script, or no direction, or everyone had the flu? but these people know better than this. The attempts to define the characters of War, Famine, and Pestilence were worse than a B movie horror flick made by film students. If you love the crow as a character don't watch this...it ruins it. If you don't or don't yet, still don't watch this as you never will from this performance.
View MoreThe Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005)* 1/2 (out of 4)The fourth and to date final entry in the series has Edward Furlong stepping into the title role as a man who witnesses his girlfriend get murdered by a Satanic cult right before they kill him. Soon after wards a crow brings him back from the dead to seek revenge on those responsible (sound familiar?). It seems that most people look at all of the sequels to the Brandon Lee film to be trash and I'd be one who said that. As bad as the three sequels are, I'd probably call this one here the best even though I understand why fans would be so upset that this here looks and feels so differently than the previous ones. This here is certainly a lot more lighter in regards to the visual style so that dark, somber look really isn't here except for a couple sequences. I also think a lot of people hate the make-up used on Furlong and this too is something I'd agree on. I think what made this film entertaining to me was that they at least tried to do something different and not just copy the first film. I think the first and second sequels simply tried too hard to be the original film whereas this one at least tries something new even though it does fail. I thought the first hour of the film remained entertaining ever so slightly but this certainly changed with the final half hour. The final part of this movie just turns to pure chaos and it's funny that it happens with Dennis Hopper shows up. He's wild and over-the-top just like you love him and it seems to have rubbed off on the rest of the cast because they too start to go over-the-top. I'm not sure if it was the director's intent but the first hour is straight and by going so crazy in the second half that it just seems fake and silly. I thought the film would have been better just playing it straight or going silly from the start. Furlong isn't too bad in the lead but he's hardly what you'd expect from an action hero. David Boreanaz and Tara Reid play the leaders of the Satanic cult and while neither deserve Oscars, I thought they fit the roles just fine. Danny Trejo even shows up for his standard cameo but he can't add too much to the film.
View MoreWhat can I say about this film, I just looked at the trailer movie looks like it was shot and ninety-two, Edward Furlong looks like a fag, Tara Ried looks like a prostitute from Las Vegas, Dennis Hooper "Please what," David Boreanza think he is Satan, "Wait a minute," the entire film seems to be actors preparing for Halloween, I did not watch film because it would be even more disappointed, because I recommend others to not watch this garbage.First Crow with Brandon Lee is awesome, but this.......................crap. The film is Dingleberries and Director smoke to much pot.I give 1/10 to this movie.
