The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

I fell in love with Marvel movies after watching Thor and have been hooked ever since!!! I recommend Thor and all of the Marvel collection to everyone! You will not be disappointed if you like action, adventure, and some well placed comedic turns!

Thor came about very early on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and ultimately it is neither the most successful, nor the worst of their early outings. Thor hits all of the notes that a typical Marvel film hits: spectacular visuals, good acting, charismatic leads, and some fantastic sequences of action. However, due to the large amount of films that exist like this, more is required to make a successful movie in the MCU. The missing link for Thor is the poor writing. It's such a shame as movie like Iron Man were so fresh and well written. Thor compiles a large group of cliches and then attempts to weave them together to create a more convoluted plot, but it does not work. You have the brother vs brother cliche, the fish out of water cliche, the romantic cliche, and the nonbeliever cliche. You could predict the entire movie from the beginning. And it is so disappointing, because the visuals are so top notch. Ultimately Thor is a very superficial outing.
